That way everyone knows you are coming.
Formula movie as part the 50 Movie Pack Sci-Fi Classics DVD collections. Yes I know it is just another invisible strangler movie (title: The Astral Factor). The story is of a deranged killer that has to kill any one the looks like his mother. To look like his mother all you have to do is look female and be in the tabloids. He was well pinned in a maximum security nut house until he discovered astral projection and other Para-psychic phenomenon. On the loose and invisible (don't we wish we all were) he is free to do the deed with impunity. However hot on his trail is Lt. Charles Barrett who suspects he is up against something more than your standard nutter. The only redeeming value of this movie is the many actors that were not quite over the hill at the time this movie was made yet were persuaded to take part: Robert Foxworth as Lt. Charles Barrett (The Questor Tapes (TV movie) - Questor) Stefanie Powers as Candy Barrett (Paper Man (TV movie) - Karen McMillan) Elke Sommer as Chris Hartman (A Shot in the Dark - Maria Gambrelli) "The Questor Tapes" Starring: Robert Foxworth, Mike Farrell

I remember seeing this on tv long ago, the whole idea is ridiculous, but if you don't mind watching women supposedly strangled by someone who's invisible, then it's your kind of movie. The worst thing is, the way the women are faking being strangled makes it appear that there would be somone with pipe cleaners for wrists, or no hands at all. They should have rehearsed how they would hold their hands with someone fake strangling themselves first, then do a take after so their hands would be in the right position.
Seriously, this film is about a 4 out of 10, and it's the kind of film you might care to unbury from the collection every 10 or 15 years.

The DVD is a DVD-R sold by Amazon. After I bought it I found this is the alternate title for Invisible Strangler -- not sure if that print is any better, but be aware there is a commercial DVD for this movie under that title.Invisible Strangler There are numerous scratches and fades in the print, but overall it looks pretty good for an unrestored film. The highlight of the movie for me was simply seeing Elke Sommer, who looks gorgeous, but all of the actors are saddled with the hopeless task of doing something with the murky story they are placed in. The special effects are poor, and the whole affair plays out like a made-for-TV movie -- it is nothing special, and not scary at all, revolving around the tired "I hate my mother" type psycho with an "astral projection" twist. It is difficult to recommend since it is such a bad movie, and I give it two stars simply for the appearance of Elke Sommer, which is stretching it. Best moments: Elke Sommer's wardrobe and desperate attempts to play her part. Worst moments: Long, boring non-action sequences, FX that make silent movie special effects look superb, and Robert Foxworth's hairstyle. Puzzling moments: Stephanie Powers -- she looks great, but used so little you almost wonder why she's in the movie at all.
