A great book for beginners,
By
This review is from: Astral Projection for Beginners: Six Techniques for Traveling to Other Realms (Paperback)
One of the interesting things I found in this book is that some of the things she mentinoned I've personally experienced over 10 years ago when I was trying earnestly to have an OBE.She mentions the "will-less will" idea from Alistair Crowley, which I discovered myself long ago. Believe me, it is a KEY to astral projection. Basically, when I tried very hard to have an OBE, I would NOT have one. When I declared I was going to have one, and didn't work hard at it, I came extremely close to having one. As she said, it's a very difficult skill to master, and is like a mental-balancing act. She mentioned a loud vibrational, humming sound. Once I reached the hypnogogic state and thought "I'm asleep now," I immediately heard a loud humming in both ears followed by a pop, and then felt a "bobbing" sensation, which the author also mentions in this book. There are two difficult "keys" to astral projection: The way I approached astral projection was to keep repeating "I will let my body sleep, but keep my mind awake," as I sat at my chair for a nap. It's EXTREMELY difficult to not simply drift into sleep, but as long as you keep repeating your intent, you will eventually hit bullseye. That's when you'll probably hear a lound humming in both ears followed by a pop, and feel a "bouncing" sensation. Unfortunately, my fear held me inside my body and I only achieved a lucid dream instead, which was still fascinating. Edain McCoy goes into depth about common fears about astral projection, and why they are baseless. For this alone, it is worth the price of the book. A couple of down-sides to this book; she does go into some "controversial" techniques, which was to equate day-dreaming to astral projection. She doesn't mention much about psychic protection in this book. The book "Astral Travel" by Yvonne and Gavin Frost do give more advice into that. I also recommend people read "Heaven and Earth: Making the Psychic Connection" by James Van Praagh. His book will give you the understanding of the psychic world, and thereby prepare you for your astral voyages. Also read "Astral Dynamics" by Robert Bruce, the bible of astral projection. Overall, this book is great for beginners, but you'll have to read others to get a complete picture.

A little useful information...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Astral Projection for Beginners: Six Techniques for Traveling to Other Realms (Paperback)
My problem with this book is that the author seems to confuse true astral projection with daydreaming and other things. There will be no doubt in your mind when you project as to whether it is real or not, because it will feel just as real as being awake on the physical plane - there's no mistaking it. But the book does have useful information in it, and some good techniques. It also contains a lot of information on overcoming fears, which is a very important step in projection. I recommend that if you're going to get this book, you should have some background in what is and what isn't projection, so you don't get confused when reading it.

Excellent Beginners Guide,

This review is from: Astral Projection for Beginners: Six Techniques for Traveling to Other Realms (Paperback)
I hesitated getting this book because some of the reviews here on Amazon made it sound like it didn't offer any techniques.
Well, needless to say, I eventually bought it. Now I'm wondering if some of the reviewers even read this book? It's a total beginners guide and offers six techniques for astral projection (each technique is explained in detail in six separate chapters). Part one of this book gives instructions on meditation, relaxation, chakras, and other aids (like incenses) which could help one astral project. Part one also discusses conquering fear and various "keys to success" which could further help you get into the right state of mind for a conscious projection. Part two has six chapters, each explaining in detail the following six astral projection methods: general transfer of consciousness, projecting through the chakras, meditating toward astral separation, guided meditation, using symbolic gateways, and stepping out of your dreams. Part three discusses such things as viewing your akashic records, remote healing, and creative visualization on the astral plane. All in all, a pretty good (and quite interesting) introduction to astral projection! The fact that it's relatively inexpensive doesn't hurt either. -Ater

Not much for techniques,
This review is from: Astral Projection for Beginners: Six Techniques for Traveling to Other Realms (Paperback)
This book is ok. Most of it is filled with what you can do with OBEs. Its more of an introduction and experiences of others. Not much techniques. Every person is unique and what works for one doesn't work for all. The experiences in the book are quite common for those who are able to have an easy OBE. If you want to have an OBE I would recommend Astral Dynamics by Robert Bruce. Not only would you know the neccessary information and experiences, but the technique works. After reading it for about a month, I was able to Astral Project. You only need one book... a good one, since most information are redundant.

As Title Says...."For Beginners"...,

I became interested in AP/OBE's awhile ago but just could not find any certain technique on the internet or on my own that worked with much success. I ran across this at a local bookstore, it was the only related book they had, so I decided to buy it. It brings up great points, but for me as a semi-experienced AP'er it was all reiteration of what is common sense in the OBE world. An excellent book for beginners, but if you are looking for advanced techniques or specific explanations, look elsewhere.
