The Premier Book on Astral Projection,
By Tommy Wachter "Jennifer" (Nebraska) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Astral Projection And the Nature of Reality: Exploring the Out-of-body State (Paperback)
It took me two days to read this book because once I started I couldn't put it down.
Mr.Magnus leads us through various exercises to show us how we too can have an astral projection. The exercises are fun and interesting. He also adds entries from his journal that makes the reader feel that they too can achieve the ability to enter the astral realm. This book is easy to read unlike many other books on the subject which make the reader feel bogged down with specificities which soon become boring. A beautifully written, enthusiastic book about a subject that is surrounded in mystery.

Wow...,

I have to say that this is probably my favorite book of all time. Now, I'll tell you why. Not only does John Magnus walk you through how to astral project, but he explains in depth what astral projecting is and, even further, what life and the universe are from an astral perspective. He manages to do this all in a very clear, coherent, logical manner. And, he really strives to describe the true nature of the astral, not just a limited interpretation of it. Also, this book is a blast to read. Every section is powerfully insightful and his journal entries that are spread throughout the book are at times powerful and at other times hilarious. Some of his astral experiences are, to put it politely, interesting. Overall, I have found this book to be most helpful in finding what I am looking for.

This book makes you really ponder the nature of reality. It is something I have pondered periodically throughout life. This book has exercises that will give the reader a means for exploring reality in an unconventional manner

Of all of the books about astral travel that I've read, this one has a totally unique perspective on the subject. I can't readily say that I agree with all of the details, but it really gives you a new way of looking at the entire OBE process...And sometimes that's just what you need!
Great book, well worth the purchase!

I think some were under the impression that this was going to be a "how-to-guide" to astral projection. The autor does give some pointers, but this book is primarily tales of his astral experiences. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Yes this is not a complete howto book on astral projection but it is fabulous as a primer book for those starting out with astral projection. The author notes his experiences and issues and how to resolve the issues. Plus it has some entertaining and interesting stories from the author's experiences and even writes an interesting chapter on what exactly is reality (hint: it's not what you think)
There is a section on healing that I found incredibly helpful and just that is worth the value of the book. This is a MUST HAVE for anyone learning about astral projection.

Excellent Resource for Astral Projection,

Astral Projection by John Magnus is all about the topic of having an "out of body experience" also known as an OBE or astral projection. If this is something you are interested in trying out or if you just want to know more about this topic, read my review and then go check the book out for yourself.
Astral Projection is not a book that you will likely read in a night (or even in a week). It is setup so that you can try out the techniques used to prepare to have an OBE and then actually have one. Most of these you would try at night before bed, so it limits how quickly you'd read through the book if doing one each night. You could of course read ahead without doing the exercises though. Magnus does a worthy job explaining what this is all about and how if you are interested and dedicated can do this too. It may not be an easy or fast road to actually astral projecting, but it could be worth it to explore. Think of it as dreaming, but being in control and maybe actually learning something while sleeping. The journal entries shared in the book are the author's own experiences with OBEs are sometimes fun, always interesting, and sometimes quite strange. The astral world is quite different, and learning more about it (even if you may not be so quick to believe in it all) is fascinating. I tried a few of the techniques featured in the book. Unfortunately, I don't think I had an OBE. If I did, I don't remember and it turned into just another dream (which according to Magnus is a part of the astral world too). I'll keep trying though and hopefully I'll remember it if I have one soon. I recommend this book to everyone who wants to explore a new dimension right in the comfort of their own bed and also of course enjoy this type of "New Age" reading. * Thank you to the publisher of Astral Projection, Hampton Roads Publishing Company, INC., for providing me with a copy of this book for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

I have read several books on astral projection in order to advance my astral travels. This book is definately way out there. Do not read this book if you are just starting out in the subject of projecting. It is full of occult style views and techniques that are so not necessary in order to astral project. If you are a serious novice, or even an advanced projector I would avoid this book. There are plenty of other books out there that are written in plain english and do not drive the authors view down your throat. Alot of hogwash!!

This books is a mish-mash of techniques taken from other authors (Buhlman and Bruce come to mind). It is as though a stoner friend from college spent a lot of time on the internet and wrote a book about Astral Projection. Save your time and money and forget this one.
