Absolutely Awesome,
By Smash Mouth Fan (Music Land) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Astro Lounge (Audio CD)
Never before has a group made so many amazingly catchy songs on one album alone. "All Star" is definitely the lead song on this album. Though its overplayed now, it still rules. It's not Smash Mouth's fault the song is overplayed, its our fault. Because we love it so much. Then of course there's "Diggin' Your Scene" and "Then the Morning Comes" and the retro-style "Can't Get Enough Of You Baby". This CD is great for anyone of any age. No Explicit Content like their first album "Fush Yu Mang" had. And for Smash Mouth fans who say they "sold out", there's a new CD amazon.com is carrying by Smash Mouth called "East Bay Sessions" where they return to their usual style of punk rock. Anyways, if you loved "Walkin' on the Sun", you'll love Smash Mouth's follow-up to the success of that song.

No sellouts here... it's called Talent,
By "noah-the-boa" (Brookline, MA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Astro Lounge (Audio CD)
I have a lot of friends. Some of them like punk music. Others like hard-core rock. Some like psychadelic 60's-style. And some like modern pop. But they all love Astro Lounge. That's because Smash Mouth is a band with talent. A lot of reviews go on and on about how Smash Mouth are major sellouts. You folks are WRONG! When you sell out, you degrade the quality of your music in order to achieve more fame and sell more CD's. Smash Mouth definitely did NOT make their music any worse on this CD. I don't know if it's better now, but it sure ain't any worse. Their songs all sound different, not the same shlop as the last track. (Sugar Ray, anyone? ) If you're into hard-core punk-ska, you might like Fush Yu Mang better. In my opinion, they're both awesome CD's. I'd start with this one, though, and then move backwards to the faster-paced Fush Yu Mang. Hanging out with friends, or relaxing, or walking around? It's all about Astro Lounge. Jogging, or trying to wake up when you're tired, or driving down a highway at 60MPH? What you want here is Fush Yu Mang. They are different types of CD's and they are both awesome. Buy this CD. You won't regret it. Then buy Fush Yu Mang. You won't regret that either.

Smashmouth Proves to be more than a one hit wonder,
By
This review is from: Astro Lounge (Audio CD)
After their smash hit, walking on the sun, I, as did most, expected smashmouth to fade into one-hit-wonder-dom and never be heard from again, then with "Can't get enough of you baby" and now Astrounge, Smashmouth is, without a doubt, a band with real musical talent. Although their hit single, "Allstar" was a good song, it was played ad nausium on the radio, and if I never hear it again, it will be too soon, but the CD is an extremely good one. With its upbeat diverse and catchy tunes, Astolounge was a sound investment.
