This book was a heap of bologna. First of all, notice the retarded quality of the book and the childish font that was used. Aside from that, I didn't understand what the author was trying to say about difficult relationships. Basically at first she said that if you're stuck with someone in your life who clashes with you astrologically, then it must be for a reason. Ok...

5.0 out of 5 stars There is no such thing as a difficult relationship!, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Astrology & Difficult Relationships: Why Are You in My Life? (Paperback)
Recommended for both personal and professional Metaphysical Studies reference collections, "Astrology & Difficult Relationships: Why Are You In My Life?" is astrologist Beverly Flynn's informed and informative effort to explain the learning experience of our most difficult relationship(s) as seen through astrological perspectives. In the ten chapters comprising "Astrology & Difficult Relationships" Beverly explains the basics of astrology, categorizing difficult relationships, obstacles to relating, speculations on whether the relationship will improve, empathy, when to take action, how to analyze difficult relationships, and finally, the assertion that "There is no such thing as a difficult relationship!" The final chapter contains five approaches or ideas to help a person in difficulty. Central to these is the notion that "we can choose how we will react", also the assertion that "we are not alone". Several astrological chart approaches to analyzing the relationship or interaction are given, and there are a series of ten illustrative examples given with two alternate scenarios each. Beverly Flynn is an experienced spiritual astrologist and her interpretation of the 'Law of Karma' as it presents in relationships is the core value of "Astrology & Difficult Relationships".

As someone who struggles with difficult relationships, I found this book to be extremely helpful. Beverly Flynn gives very useful, down to earth advice, and her knowledge of astrology is impressive. It made me want to give my difficult relationships a new look.

I've always been casually interested in astrology, and casually read books like this a few times a year. I saw this one and thought I had to get it, as I have a few relationships in my life that I have trouble dealing with. This book gave me new perspective. I think I may try some of her other titles.

4.0 out of 5 stars Requires natal charts for comprehension!, August 8, 2008

Fascinating material and explanations, however, you don't get far unless you have your completed natal charts in front of you. Author does a great job of explaining in easy-to-understand terms the meaning of the sun signs, conjunctions, transits, the planets (i.e. Mercury is about communication) and the 12 houses, but, you must be able to look at the natal charts of yourself and the difficult person in question and determine where there are conjunctions, squares, trines, sextiles, etc. in order to utilize the information/suggestions author is writing. Author also refers to your "higher self" at end of book...very nobly suggesting that if you can rise above earthly pettiness, bickering, jealousy, bitterness, etc. (all that good human garbage we carry around), then you can heal the rifts with "your difficult relationship" by.......looking at the problem from a forgiving viewpoint and changing your perspective. Hmmm....sounds a lot like...."you" should be the first to extend the proverbial olive branch. Being a Cancer sign, myself, and nonconfrontational, I would tend to agree with that...but...survival instincts in this 21st century of self-gratification and inflated self-esteem warn me to take a second look at the difficult relationship and evaluate its worthiness and "love potential". At the risk of sounding trite, I am equally impressed with the current sage advice of "life is short........
forgive quickly (always a noble goal)...LOVE THE ONES WHO TREAT YOU RIGHT...".
There are at least three sections in the book that list actual sun sign combinations (based on conjunctions, etc.) that could spell trouble and how to handle them. It is important to note that not every possible combination of signs is listed, only those that would pose difficulties...for which you must have the natal charts and the analyses of the difficult conjunctions, etc. In conclusion, this book is written in an easy to understand style, is not lengthy nor costly, and should provide interesting reading material.

Like the other reviewers, I found it to be a useful and wise book that imparted self-awareness opportunities. Most of us do struggle w/ either power issues or some sort of (mis)communication issue at one time or another. The book left me wanting more of Ms. Flynn's kind guidance, so I hope she will write a sequel. I think the whole purpose of delving into any sort of astrological process is for gaining self awareness and learning compassion for those that frustrate or drive us crazy in one manner or another. For any women out there who have mother issues, I also highly recommend Dance with Anger (available at Amazon). That book did more for my relationship with my mother than any other book or therapy.

Ok? Then, she claims that what you should do is know your exact birth time AND the peron's exact birth time[and if you don't know the person's birth time or you pass on asking them like a freak, just skip over 3/4 of the book], and then come up with you and the person's birth chart. Then she goes and tries and teaches you how to read birth charts, and fails miserably. Then comes my favorite part. She lists compatibility for certain sign combinations[ex. aries/cap, libra/scorp], and completely leaves out certain combinations. Outrageous. Just save your $ and move on to the next astrology book.
