I highly recommend this book for a beginner.

You will need a copy of your birth chart for this book, however there are several websites (such as cafeastrology.com and alabe.com) where you can get one for free.

I have not ever found a better astrology book for those people who simply want to understand their own chart. They don't want to wade knee deep through understanding the possible planet/sign/house/aspect combinations for the rest of the world. (or they don't want to dedicate the number of years it takes to become adept). This book can take them from zero understanding to a respect and deepened understanding of their own chart. It is also one of the best beginner books I have ever seen for those people who do want to begin a more dedicated study of astrology. Organized, well put together and in a logical and manageable order. I teach an intro to astrology course and am constantly asked which book I'd recommend for the students to delve into their own charts. This is the only one I've found out of a rather extensive personal library. Grab your copies while you're still able to find them or hope for a reprint on this amazing book. (UPDATE: It is reprinted) Intermediate students can also use it to further their depth of study.

I shopped and shopped for a book that would unravel the mysteries of astrology, and this book was my discovery! I've told all my friends about it, and they are now on their own quests for personal transformation.Do yourself a favor and use this book to learn the basics before trying to read some of the more advanced texts, It has a great overview of every planet, asteroid, sign, house, and aspect, and you'll learn how to identify and read them all like a pro.

I completely enjoyed this book. It was interactive enough to keep me busy and informative enough to keep me excited about filling out each page. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in the process of taking their astrology knowledge to the "next level."

Basically, you fill in a lot of charts, keywords and more...all about your own chart. You will end up practically memorizing keywords etc. by the time you are finished...without even realizing you have! Well, written, well laid out...big thumbs up!

This is an excellent workbook with all the basic information for a beginning astrologer. The chapters are arranged so that the student starts with the basic tools - planets, signs, houses - and then moves on to aspects - how to combine the basics into a meaningful interpretation. Each section is accompanied by exercises related to the student's chart to that s/he can apply the information to his/herself. The bibliography provides resources so that the student can continue to more advanced levels. The information is well organized and easy to understand. This workbook can be used on its own by a student or in connection with an established teacher.

I would call myself a beginner-intermediate astrologer. I have read many websites, finished one book (The Idiot's Guide to Astrology) and started three others (which I felt were a little too advanced for me at the moment) before completing this exercise book. It is great for the learner of any skill I think as it starts with the basics and touches base on most areas of astrology (actually all that I know of so far). I didn't find that it really taught me anything new, but it was so great to be able to write down everything about me - I'd been wanting to for so long, but didn't know where to start. While I have never been more interested in, or dedicated to, anything as much as I am astrology, I have always had so much trouble trying to remember things. For me writing everything down in one place, in a structured way, and being able to highlight and answer things that relate solely to me, is a very good way for learning.

I think it would be a great place to start for beginners, while still remaining an excellent revision tool for the more advanced.

You will need a copy of your birth chart for this book, however there are several websites (such as cafeastrology.com and alabe.com) where you can get one for free. Otherwise the book shows you how you can purchase one if you want.

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is learning (no matter what your skill).

I have at least two dozen books on astrology. One or two on houses, moons, sun signs, rising signs, nodes, etc. There is SO much to learn in astrology that it can be overwhelming. Astrology for Yourself is like a class on how to make sense of a chart. It breaks it all down in bite sized pieces with relatable examples so that you will REMEMBER what everything means (there are lots of symbols). Many of the other books I have are great for focusing on specific aspects of a chart, but this puts it all together in a way that is easy to understand, easy to retain and easy to transfer to other charts. Having the opportunity to write things down and think about them makes it better for me than just reading a book and trying to apply it. I highly recommend this for someone who is interested in understanding their own chart or is getting started in astrology.

You would have to be an advanced astrologer not to benefit from this excellent primer on astrology. It has everything you will need to read your own chart and become familiar with the language of astrology (the zodiac, planets, houses, asteroids, and so on). The explanations are simple and down-to-earth, which is exactly what a beginner needs to understand astrology. The more advanced student will often refer back to it as a reference.

The authors take a very friendly approach, with excercises meant to be used to understand your own birth chart better. Upon completing the book, you will have your own interpretation of your birth chart and will be ready to read other charts and attempt more complicated analysis, such as progressed charts.

The book is free of opinions and agendas, nothing but plain astrology presented in a way that anyone can understand, given a bit of effort and dedication. This is your first stop if you are interested in astrology or know something about the subject and want to consolidate your knowledge. econ
