Popular Science from the 20th Century, January 10, 2008
This review is from: Astronomy for All (Paperback)
Astronomy for All was written early in the 20th century as popular science. Certainly many scientific discoveries have been made since it was published, but more than the science, the times have changed. Credit to the author for including a chapter on women astronomers, however his point of view is of his era. Still, this publication is well worth reading. It is richly illustrated with black and white prints that are artistic, thought provoking, and so broadly interesting. It is as if Carl Sagan had written Cosmos 100 years earlier, and is quite an engaging read. I love this book.
Amazon's print on demand service works well. The volume was a nice paperback version of the original. It shipped promptly. If I had not known it was an on-demand book, I would not have suspected that based on the high quality and the quick arrival. Nice job, Amazon.
