Steve's dry podcast style certainly works for these Australian ears, and his writing takes a similar straightforward approach to sharing his enthusiasm for the subject. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a simple way to introduce astronomy to a newcomer.

I've been a fan of Steve Nerlich's "Cheap Astronomy Podcasts" and now find his ebook to be just as great. Astronomy Without A Telescope contains graphics and notations that help to visualize and understand amazing details of our universe. Science and astronomy has never been so much fun. Using an iPad with the Kindle App - Great book.

Steve's style never fails to make me smile, think about things in a different way, and make me want to share the cosmos as he does. This was an incredible read and certainly worth the price.

This is worth reading, if you consume a lot of cosmology works, but if it's maybe the only one you'll read, get something else. The author focuses on many of the more exotic and spectacular oddities in the sky, but provides no real context for the uninitiated. A better title would be "50 weird things astronomers have discovered". It's worth the money and time, but it's a one-read-wonder; I'll never revisit it.

It seemed that this book would have been meant for the lay person but in reality there were several highly complex ideas and explanations that I found it challenging at times to maintain focus. however, it was a quick read and the author made witty and fun analogies. It wasn't terrible but it was not what I expected it to be either.

This is a collection of Blog entries on a wide variety of topics in the areas of Astronomy, Cosmology and Astrophysics.

Very very enjoyable and worthwhile.

I would have rated it 5 stars except for the tiny problem that the author occasionally delves into explanations and theorizing in physics, arriving at conclusions which are often inaccurate or questionable. And sometimes the articles are clipped off without coming to a clear satisfying close.

I would say Buy it! - it's very worthwhile.

I chose this book because of the cover design, price, good reviews and I was not disappointed. The material is succinct, up to date, lively, accurate and entertaining. How about learning the basics of Einstein's Theory of Relativity in a page and a half. Nerlich is able to do this where others fail. Anyone even with a casual interest in Astronomy should purchase this book. You won't be disappointed.
