I'm an astronomy graduate student and I got this book to increase my literacy on the astroparticle physics issues of the day. It's very well-written imo, easy to read and understand, it outlines some useful examples. The examples are taken from real-world astrophysics (e.g. Auger observatory, ICEcube) which is very helpful.

This is a very good book. It has the solutions to all the problems in the back of the book. This is wonderful, especially if you are trying to teach yourself from the book like I did.

The only gripe I have is that occasionally hbar = c = 1. I dislike this b/c it makes a unit analysis of equations and results rather difficult. However he is usually pretty good at indicating where this has been done, or when he will be doing so. This is the only reason it got 4 instead of 5 stars. NOTE: I've only used chapters 8-15.
