Very Complete...but make sure you buy a BIG power supply,

This review is from: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I recently (yesterday) rebuilt my computer. My old MOBO was an ASUS P4P800-E Deluxe with a 3.6 Pentium 4. I put this MOBO in with an AMD 4000+. I have yet to try and stress out my dual PCIe eVGA NVidia 6800GT's in the SLI configuration yet, but the board and processer seem to work together extremely well. This MOBO has connectors for everything. For example, there are twice as many USB connecters on the MOBO than on my old one. Very handy for me as I have lots of USB devices.
I will warn you to buy an up-to-date ATX power supply like my 500w Rosewill RE502. This MOBO really needs a LOT of power. Not as much for the motherboard itself, but when you run 2 high-end SLI enabled video cards and 3 SATA hard drives in a RAID 5 configuration, you'll need not only abundant power, but the octopus of connecters that the devices need. Sure you can buy adapters, but upgrading a 20 pin to 24 pin MOBO connecter and a handful of other adapters can almost equal the price of the new power supply. What's that you say...you aren't going to be running multiple GPU's and hard drives??? Why are you buying this MOBO then??

you can go above and beyond with this MOBO. If you want SLI which of course you do, otherwise why would you be lookign at this mobo, then you should get it! is it expensive? sure, but it is worth it if you have a big monitor, say 19+ inches, and you wnat your games to look superb. big monitor needs high resolution, which sli will provide. warning: I suspect only 5% of all users out there should spend the money for this. don't forget you need to buy two video cards, that will cost alot. still better than $3000 for a game rig from say alienware. try WhoSave.com, see if there is a deal.

Stable Board with a loud southbridge fan,

This review is from: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe NVIDIA nForce4 SLI Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I was able to overclock this board with a AMD 64 3700+ 90nm CPU to 2.7Ghz, for over 48 hours. Heat is not a problem with a good heatpipe cpu cooler. I am however very disappointed with the cheap southbridge chipset cooler fan. After about 200 hours on time, the cooler started to whine loudly. I had to remove the top metal fan shroud to make it quiet again. If I turn the system off and reboot an hour later the fan makes the noise for another 30 minutes.
The system in it's current configuration can turn out a SETI/BOINC WU in 37 minutes.

This motherboard is awesome, i have an amd athlon 64x2 dual core processor and i gotta tell you it rocks. I see only 1 flaw the south bridge fan is VERY cheap and it died on me after almost a year of use, it screwed up my motherboard but thank god Asus has a standard 3 year warranty.
This motherboard is good if you're a gamer, but if u just want to check your email and play tetris, buy a pre-made.

Still Rockin'...,

I have also had this computer setup with the Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe mobo since 2006, and its still rocking solid. I just had to replace a power supply as it burned out, possibly from being in my basement office area and moisture, but thankfully the mobo and my hardware were not affected.I only have the AMD64 Athlon 4000+ on this right now. I have been checking prices for a dual core socket 939 chip. Most prices come in around $150-$250 on eBay depending. I am leaning towards the FX-60 as its dual core and should get me the last bit of life in an upgrade from my setup. I have two BFG nVidia 7800GTX's installed. They are a slightly overclocked version of the 7800GTX's, and I have never had any issues. They play most games, except for the past years top of the line, pretty well. 2Gigs of Corsair XMS Led sticks of ram, and lots of fans makes this work pretty stable. Worth fixing when I had to. If I can find and get one of those chips, it would be nice to see how quickly this computer can work as it is 5-6 years old. Worth the money so far. The board is great, and never had an issue with it.

I love this board. I bought it on P. Grabber as a refurb and I have used it with an FX-55 since 2005 and it is still faster than many of the comps they sell as "NEW". If I could get the price they quote here, I might part with it, but it is not going to be sold cheap! I never did use the SLI, since I am not a gamer. I have tried an ASUS AM3 board and was disappointed. I think they are hooked on their own hype. My new comp is a Biostar board with a Phenom II X4 965 and 16 gigs of DDR3 1600. I still love my old 939 system though.
