Our firm now owns four ASUS 701 series computers. The 701SD is our newest one. We had thought it would be set-up like the others in the 701 series - but it isn't.
On the plus side: Faster and adjustable clock speed, power/battery controls, brighter screen and an updated operating system. On the minus side: Recovery partition has been split among two partitions, updated operating system. It is easier to add new software (FREE!) from the ASUS website. However some of the existing software we had on-hand did not work with this newer operating system. The WiFi module has also been changed, it's not as sensitive (still very good). The touchpad now does all those fancy moves, including vertical, horizontal and circular scrolling. The touchpad in now plastic, not metal (cheaper). But it's still much better than most netbooks in this regard. The 8GB SSD memory is upgradable to larger sizes. SSD memory is falling in price. This is plenty of memory for most applications (put your music and photos on an SD Card). Not as good overall as the previous models (2G surf, 4G and 4G surf) but still way ahead of the others. It's an honest 2 pounds, including the battery. Buy it - You'll love it! ASUS service has been excellent. This an excellent value if you can find one for around $200.
