5.0 out of 5 stars Amazon needs to correct the name of this item.
"Support Amd Socket AM2 Athlon 64 X2 Athlo 64 Fx Athlon 64 Sempron Nvidia Nfor" is not the name of this item. This is ASUS M2N-E Motherboard. Amazon should correct the name because I am sure many potential customers get confused. This board is good, not exactly the best but if you don't plan to use SLi then this is the board for you. I recommend updating the BIOS asap...

I recommend updating the BIOS asap because it comes with a very old BIOS revision. I have built many computer systems and never had any problems with ASUS boards, this board is no exception. Great middle class performance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not a sli board but still a good mobo, January 20, 2008
By
This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I bought this board thinking it was sli but it wasn't. Thats all right because this was my first time making a computer i wanted sli to be an option for future upgrades but right now this mobo fits my needs. Now on to the details:

Pros: It has an awesome black color my case has a side window to see in. It has a pretty cool software set with it that includes an over clocking kit and fan monitors and temp monitors which i thought was pretty cool. It has plenty of room for other pci cards and the manual for connecting the pins was very well written. The built in network adapter is working great so i don't have to waste a pci slot for a network card. The sound is pretty good but i am an audiophile so i added a sound card. i did not use the video out put as i had a video card put in from the start. They also supplied enough sata cables to keep it clean inside.

CONS: The Kit comes with an i/o shield that goes on the back where all the plug holes are is a pain in the neck to install. There are enough parts to install this in most cases but some of the plastic mount things they give you seem pretty cheap and could easily be broken if your not careful. the main problem i had overall was the fact that the bios was so outdated if your not very computer savvy then this would be a HUGE mountain to overcome i would recommend having a flash drive or a floppy disk handy for initial setup.

Final Thoughts: Overall i would actually rate this product as a 4 1/2 stars but i gave it a 5 because even though its not sli and the bios was outdated the motherboard makes up for it through its bells and whistles it is a very nice deal i will definitely buy another asus mother board in the future. If you plan on building a computer to just cruise the web and watch movies listen to music play a few games here and there then this motherboard is a good call.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, modestly priced mobo, October 18, 2008
This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
Bought this mobo from Amazon along with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 5000+ BE. The mobo allows me to overclock the CPU to 3GHz and remains stable running WinXP/SP3 (did not try Vista). My mobo came with a BIOS dated Dec 2007 - didn't feel a need to upgrade it since everything is working fine.

If you want SLI plus some additional frills, pay a few more dollars and get the M2N-SLI Deluxe instead. I use that for a 2nd system coupled with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 6000+ running at 3GHz (not oc'd) with Vista/SP1.

In general, I've found Asus mobos to be stable although their documentation leaves a lot to be desired, esp for people new to building PCs.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible Motherboard, May 8, 2008
This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
After rmaing this board, vista 64 still keeps BSODing. Windows xp works perfectly, swapped ram, psu, cpu and still no go on this board. Stay away from this economy board before you get nightmares like I have gotten. Also, very poor control in the bios of changing ram voltages as well as cpu voltages. Max supported voltage is 1.95volts

4.0 out of 5 stars Great board, August 7, 2007
This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I'm a novice at building computers, I've only built two before this. Everything is fairly easy to get at and well labeled. Minor issue with the IDE socket being on it's side thou. The rest is "cake", installation, set-up, even overclocking. If you're stuck with an AM2 socket CPU this is the board for you, runs fast, smooth, and after about the first minute really Quiet. I will be buying Asus again count on it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy, May 19, 2008
This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
This board has been horrible for me. Have owned it for two years, and have had replaced twice. Great board out of the box, but then as time went on just kept seeing problem after problem. Stopped keeping time, would BSOD, would only start after several tries, until finally it wouldn't start at all. THIS HAPPENED TWICE, TWO DIFFERENT BOARDS! Asked if they would let me pay the difference to get a different model, and was told they do not do that. Asked to talk to a manager and was given the run around, told he would call me back, and then never did. Google the board and you'll find page after page of forums with the same issues. I'm not buying ASUS ever again. Save your money, don't buy this board.

5.0 out of 5 stars This board does support SLI, May 20, 2008

This review is from: Asus M2N-E Green Socket AM2 nForce 500 ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
With the people here saying this board is not SLI, only nVidia based graphics cards support SLI currently. The SLI option is for anyone wanting to use more than one GPU, but they must be identical cards, which is how SLI works. This board allows you to plug 2X PCI-E GPUs, thus the SLI in the name of the board. If you think any MB comes with SLI built into it, then you will understand that you will not only be paying for a MB, but two GPUs as well, and that will cost you a fortune.

This board runs great, installs flawlessly, and has been going strong for me for over 6 months.

I have not used the on board sound as I am into better performance, but I have heard that it rivals separate sound boards.

I have been building computers for over 15 years, and while I prefer higher end boards for different situations, this one is my gamer machine (current financial situation has gone down hill a little, making the budget a little thinner at time of this purchase) for a middle of the road performer, this board is another success story from Asus.

If you are considering this board, mark it for future reviewing for after you shop around, and then come back to this one, Asus is a performer MB manufacturer, they have a good reputation, and there are newer BIOSs for it available.

I strongly suggest this board for your next AMD MB.
