My config with this Mobo.,

I built my last config with this Mobo. I installed The AMD Athlon X2 6000+
3.0 GHZ CPU. 4GB of OCZ PC6400 800MHZ Certified Duel channel Matched High performance Memory, with 555-15 Timeings. 2 BFG 8600 GT OC GPU's in SLI mode. Win XP X64 OEM OS. I used the new antec 900 Gaming case. It has 2 120MM LED fans in front. 1 120MM LED Fan in the back & on the door window, & it has 1 200MM fan on the top rear of the case. This is the best ventilated case I've built with yet. I haven't seen the temp on the CPU go above 48C yet. I also used a WD Raptor 10,000 RPM 4.5MS seek time, 150GB Hard Drive. I'm very impressed with my new config. It's very fast.

Rightey, I like this mobo a lot!!! Plenty of cool features and 'toys! not totally on the "cutting edge", but, is VERY reliable and stable. Booted at first 'post", and has been running perfectly since. Highly recommend it.

I found that this mobo had the best written manual of any mobo I've installed over the past 15 years. It was a snap to install w/ more features and overclocking options then I'd know what to do with. Hella stable. Bought this for my gaming system and it kicks @ss.

Definatly be careful of the ram you buy, check the asus web site for recomeded ram. But if you go with what they recomend you are in for a treat**. This is a faboulus high performance motherboard that can take a hammering, i run it as my HTPC board/fileserver. Just on the board itself i run 2 RAID 0's and a 4 drive RAID 5 <that is 8 hard drives> All SATA. A wealth of BIOS features will keep you tweeking for days, just to get your personal perfect setup. My only complaint is i whish it had fewer PCIe slots and more PCI slots. I know two is enough for most people but When i toss in a tuner card and a sound card im out, i have a whole nother TV tuner i would love to toss in. Exellant bang for the buck, if you cant afford the Asus Crosshair, this one is deffinatly a close second.
** Corsair XMS2 DDR800 Running at 4-4-4-12 2t and 1ghz FSB as set up by board, no OC'n by me.

Good motherboard, just be careful what RAM you get,

I have had this motherboard since July and it's very good with many useful features. You have to be careful what type of RAM you buy because (like me) if you buy the wrong type of RAM, you could be in trouble. Visit their website and see the recommended RAM list before buying the RAM. I did manage to make my RAM (OCZ Gold 2x512mb) work after updating the BIOS (with a different RAM I had to borrow) but I cannot use some of the features (such as overclocking) as the PC will just restart every few minutes (because it automatically changes the RAM settings and voltage). My system isn't stable either if I use the RAM at 800 MHz (the advertised speed of the RAM) so I'm stuck using it at 667 MHz.

Came with missing parts, not a great difference from previous MB,

When I got my motherboard I was very excited but when I opened the box there was no Q-connector, no array mic and no omni directional antennae, just the motherboard, manuals and SATA cables, I had to take the antennae form my previous WiFi card rendering it useless for selling. But what can I do, from now on I will not buy such expensive parts on the internet.
I bought this to replace my MSi-K9VGM-V and there is not much of a difference n performance it still gets sluggish in games (C&C III, Oblivion and even portal) at high settings. |
