The North bridge has good passive cooling. I overclocked my Phenom II 955 BE to 3.6ghz easy. This has 4x pcie slots running at 16x/16x, 16x/8x/8x or 8x/8x/8x/8x I think. If you are planning to get a decently large heat sink, the fins may be in the way of the dimms slot.

OK i bought this Motherboard for its cross fire features and the core unlocker! I was so psyched when i got it all together. I turned it on and!........NOTHING. I got a dead board! I got very upset because i purchased it way before all my other parts and now i cant return it to Amazon. So i have to go through an RMA with Asus and pray i can still get a new one under the manufacturers Warranty.

Tip: Save your money up and buy everything at once! so you can still return it.

whats not to like? i strongly believe this is the best mobo on the market, handles my cpu wonderfully, can put 3 gpu's that take up two slots each on this mobo! reapplied thermal compound to the heatsinks on the north and south bridge but i didnt have to, just a little overkill on my part... asus update makes bios updates convenient and plenty of drivers and extra programs come with it!
