A good motherboard with great features.,
This review is from: Asus M4A79T DELUXE Socket AM3/ AMD 790FX/ Quad CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
The North bridge has good passive cooling. I overclocked my Phenom II 955 BE to 3.6ghz easy. This has 4x pcie slots running at 16x/16x, 16x/8x/8x or 8x/8x/8x/8x I think. If you are planning to get a decently large heat sink, the fins may be in the way of the dimms slot.Phenom II X4 955 BE @3.6ghz /w stock cooler Asus M4A79T Deluxe 1600mhz Corsair 9 9 9 24 4890 Sapphire 1gb ddr5 WD Caviar Green 750gb 16mb 850w Corsair tx series Lancool PC-K7B

OK i bought this Motherboard for its cross fire features and the core unlocker! I was so psyched when i got it all together. I turned it on and!........NOTHING. I got a dead board! I got very upset because i purchased it way before all my other parts and now i cant return it to Amazon. So i have to go through an RMA with Asus and pray i can still get a new one under the manufacturers Warranty.Tip: Save your money up and buy everything at once! so you can still return it.

whats not to like? i strongly believe this is the best mobo on the market, handles my cpu wonderfully, can put 3 gpu's that take up two slots each on this mobo! reapplied thermal compound to the heatsinks on the north and south bridge but i didnt have to, just a little overkill on my part... asus update makes bios updates convenient and plenty of drivers and extra programs come with it!rig: amd phenom II x4 955 oced 3.71 ghz cooled by coolermaster v8 sapphire ati radeon hd 4870 oced core clock 820 mem clock 1030 4 gb ocz amd edition ddr3 1600 mhz corsair 750w psu wd 640 gb black oh and antec 1200 (another highly recommended item by me, so roomy and great air flow)

RAID Failure. Awful Technical and Customer Support,
By als (Kaneohe, HI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Asus M4A79T DELUXE Socket AM3/ AMD 790FX/ Quad CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
The RAID capability of this MOBO does NOT function correctly. It will reporta failed disk (you get to guess which one since it does not tell you) when no disk has failed. When you replace the "failed" disk, it does not rebuild the RAID. There are no messages of ANY kind during the RAID rebuild. You have to take it on faith that the process even ran. Calls to technical support typically take 45 minutes to get to the India and another 45 minutes to get to tier one support. They will not provide a direct number to tier one even when they have determined that they are the only ones with the knowledge to help. So it takes nearly two hours for each call. And it took a lot of calls. Their technical support DENIES THAT THERE CAN BE ANY PROBLEM WITH THEIR MOBO and it must be the hard drives. Despite my using new drives and the drives passing the manufacturers tests, ASUS tech support insists that the Hitachi drives are bad. I removed the RAID configuration from the ASUS MOBO and the drives work in non-RAID configuration with the MOBO with NO issues. ASUS tech support insists that it is NOT possible for there to be a problem with their product. Yeah, right. Try contacting their Customer Relations (not tech support) organization. They do have one. They just don't provide any means for customers to actually contact them. I will never buy a product from this company again.

The ASUS M4A79T Deluxe SUCKS!,
This review is from: Asus M4A79T DELUXE Socket AM3/ AMD 790FX/ Quad CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
This motherboard came to me brand new and it looked sweet. I put it into my tower with a AM3 Phenom II x3 720 BE, 430w Thermaltake psu, and an ati 4850 graphics card, 1TB Hard drive, 4 sticks of 1gb ram which were compatible with the motherboard-- and it doesn't even POST. No beeps, no video. I took it to the shop and it was confirmed that the motherboard was bad when I got it. I don't know how the RMA process works when you buy something that is sold as-is, I guess I learned my lesson not to go with ASUS motherboards. I wouldn't necessarily call them "Rock-Solid", but I would call them "Heart-Touching", in a bad way.

DON'T buy this board for high-end processors!,
By
This review is from: Asus M4A79T DELUXE Socket AM3/ AMD 790FX/ Quad CrossFireX/ A&GbE/ ATX Motherboard (Personal Computers)
I purchased this board with an AMD Phenom II X4 965 processor, but could not get the rig to post. After doing some additional research, this problem is VERY common for this board. This has been an extraordinary headache to try to use. There are different BIOSes available for this motherboard, with varying levels of support for processors. Most of the relatively lower-end AM3 processors will be supported by all BIOS versions. However, for the higher-end processors, such as my 965, it's rather uncommon to receive the proper level of BIOS support. I'm not the only reviewer to have experienced this problem. I've tried getting ahold of technical support to replace the BIOS. So far, still waiting. Their suggestion to me was to purchase a second, lower-end processor, then flash the bios and use my current processor. Or send the mobo back and ask for a replacement. If I send it back, I'm getting a different brand!

Incompatible with 125w AMD 965 X4 as delivered.,

Pros: Nice looking board. It will hopefully work well once I get my bios updated to where it should have been out of the box.Cons: DO NOT BUY THIS BOARD IF YOU ARE USING THE NEWEST 125 W AMD Phenom X4 BE. Here I am typing this review on a borrowed laptop because Asus was too lazy to recall dated boards. The board did not ship with the latest bios, and is incompatible out of the box with the previously mentioned chip. After spending over 5 hours on the phone (mostly on hold) they give me the opportunity to PAY THEM to fix THEIR mistake. They will send you a new bios chip, but you've got to pay for it. Its absurd to know you cannot purchase a "nice" mobo like this one and not have it compatible with the latest processors. Other Thoughts: I was put through to the bios department two times, both past 5:30 EST after just being told "yes, they are still in, they will pick up." Both times to a useless answering machine. Only in my third try did an honest tech inform me they had been closed for the last 3 hours. Then I ask for the manager. I am told he is "for sure in, we always have a manager on." I get his voicemail. I leave a message. I wait two hours. I call back. I am again told the manager will pick up. Voicemail again. Its now been a full day since I left my voicemail to the manager and still no returned call. I have my bios chip on the way, but I am still very unsatisfied. I would never purchase an Asus product again. This is mostly due to a severe lack in customer service. Bottom line: I'll never buy asus again. You might, other neweggers seem to like this board. However, if you are planning on using the latest AMD processor, you should look elsewhere.

The most impressive part might be that the motherboard temperature is always below 25 degrees at full load. Very good job is done in terms of keeping the temperature very low and also very easy to install. I recommend it.

This is simply a great motherboard, but it should have more fan connectors on board, and more sata ports. The 890 is coming
