I can play Battlefield 4 on ultra!!
James from CA
I even added another fan to my case which drops my CPU temp down even more but doesn't help the video card at all.

The card was very fast..no problems with that. Card is pretty quiet too even at 50% fan speed. The problem I had was the card was still running at 93c to 94c at full load which is WAY above benchmarks for heat I have seen on other sites. My case has great airflow but just to play it safe I ran the card at full load with the side cover off. I am going to RMA and see if I got a defective card. Will update review when new one arrives.

***UPDATED REVIEW***

I received my replacement card and the temps are now averaging around 74 degrees at full load. Looks like my first card that was shipped to me was defective in terms of the cooler.

Running BF4 everything on max settings, ive read online that the r9 series has issues regarding the noise that the card makes while under load, but with this one (Asus DirectcU) i can barely hear the thing while playing games like Rome Total War II or BF4 maxed with a resolution of 1920x1080.
, great graphics card, never been happier with a graphic card purchase as i am now.

Pros:
+Quiet
+Super Fast
+Every game maxed out with good fps

Cons
-Kinda big, keep in mind this things quite large

I bought one of these for my custom gaming rig when they came out. Beautiful card, solid, sturdy, and good quality I expect from Asus. I researched a lot as I was seriously torn between this and the Titan, but in the end my dislike for Nvidia won out.

I play PvP games, this card handles very well; ESO ultra with excellent fps around 70 or so - PvE I was in the 100s. I also have this in a heavily modified dual HTPC case setup; I intend to purchase a second and water cool them. (My HTPC has nothing but the MB in it, the PSU, drives, and everything else are in a second HTPC case.) That said, I've been running it with stock cooler on the Performance Bios setting, though I had to change the fans cause they've got it set up to kick in at like 90c (apparently the card's designed to handle running at 95c. I don't trust it.)

My cards silent at idle, and no louder than my Corsair 120SP's at high fan speeds - I think there might be a weight issue with a traditional tower setup. This card is really heavy (it easily weighs as much as my Radeon HD6950 w/hybrid water cooling and 120 radiator.) If you're getting a fan whine in a tower, try setting the case on it's back [motherboard side] and see if it goes away - if it does then you just need to put in a support rod and it should be quiet.

GPU tweak is 'alright' but don't ever, ever use their vbios flasher - it bricked my GPU just the other day. BACKUP your original bios and waste a CD to keep it somewhere safe! The ONLY bios I've found online that works with this darn thing is Asus.R9290X.2096.131003.rom, it's out of date and doesn't work the fans right at all (wasn't designed for the CUII) Every other bios I found online failed, and unfortunately for me I'd already bricked the quiet bios (didn't even know it.

I was looking for a new card to replace my aging 6870's and figured it was time.

Performance: BF4 on max settings sticks to 60 FPS (I use Vsync) but I am sure if I turned that off I would get a lot more. I also play Arma 3 and I can play it comfortably on max settings with a stable 40-50 FPS

Cooling-

Pros: Cooling is great with the card idling at 45c and at peak hitting mid 80's but only when I play extremely intensive games. On battlefield 4 my card sits in the low 70's with everything maxed out.

Con: My only complaint is that I have to set different cooling profiles to keep it sub 90c. If I leave the card's fan speeds at auto managed setting the card will constantly hit high 80's with the fan speed only at 50% during heavy load. I have different profiles setup for idle, light gaming, then heavy gaming. 70% fan speed is the sweet spot for cooling at intense games like Crysis. Asus really needs to make the auto cooling more aggressive because the first time I used the card in a heavy gaming session using the auto managed speeds my temps hit 95c, that's when I decided to set my own fan speed profiles.

Noise: At idle you cant even tell the card is on. When the fan gets turned up it definitely sounds loud but I use a gaming headset and rarely does it bother me. Even when I left the card on high fan speed overnight it didn't bother me at all. If you don't use any sort of headphones then the card can either bother you, or you'll get used to it eventually. I work in IT so loud systems with fans on is at this point soothing but I can see how for some it can get annoying.

Overclock: I have yet to overclock but I don't feel as if it is needed since it already comes with a small factory overclock and runs everything great.

Okay, I got two of these to use in my gaming rig for a cfx config for 7680x1440. I figured I’d use them for mining too when I wasn't gaming. I've spent about a week testing each card individually and together. It took over a month to get these, so being impatient, I picked up an OEM R9 290X (couldn't find any 290’s). Compared to the OEM 290X these cards are a lot cooler and quieter. However, I will admit the OEM coolers are not as bad as everyone says they are. The main issue is how they have the fan profile set up.

But back to these cards, the build quality is excellent and the cards look gorgeous. Single card performance and temps are just like everyone else says. Usually in the mid to high 70’s (Celsius) with the fans being very quiet. As for mining scrypt, both cards maxed out at around 870 kh/s individually. Both my cards seemed to like these setting the best; “--thread-concurrency 31000 -I 20 -w 256 -v 2 -g 1 --gpu-engine 966 --gpu-fan 75 --gpu-memclock 1500 --temp-cutoff 95”. This is with Windows 8.1 and cgminer 3.7.2.

But as soon as you put two of these in the same rig everything changes. Temps while gaming shoot up into the 80’s and 90’s for both cards. VRM temps went up even higher, getting close to 100c. My gpu temps ranged from 85 to 93c with CFX enabled. And the VRM temps ranged from 86 to 98c. On a good note, I will say, these temps didn’t cause any throttling. But the VRM temps are a fair amount higher than on the OEM 290X. The 290X is mining at full force sandwiched up against a 7850 in a mid-tower case. And the GPU temp is 74c with the VRM temps being 55c and 66c. Fan speed is set at 75%. Sounds like a hair dryer, lol.

These high VRM temps killed any possibility of me being able to run both cards at max settings for mining.
