I paid $24.99 for this just few days ago and it's over $35?! Wow...

Very basic wireless-N router but awesome design with four ethernet ports on the back. The antenna is not removable but I do find the external antenna design to work better than the internal.

Yes, there's no CD and only a basic manual but if you know basic networking you'll figure it out without a manual. If you don't have an extra ethernet cable I would find one as you'll need two total (with one that comes with the package).

I have Comcast and pushing around 20Mbps with 5Mbps both on wireless mode and through the ethernet cable directly. No slowdown's whatsoever. Of course if you're wanting to stream HD movies wirelessly and have multiple users in the house, I would opt for 300Mbps version or higher. That or you'll need to limit the bandwidth for the wireless clients.

Install Steps:

1) Hook up the router with the cable provided to the internet (blue) port on the router
2) The other end goes to the cable modem provided by your service provider
3) Take another ethernet cable, plug into one of the yellow port on the router and the other end to your computer/laptop's network card
4) Wait for the network to connect which should be automatic
5) Open any browser and type in "192.168.1.1"
6) Login is "admin" and password is "admin" without the quotes
7) You'll then be prompted to change the admin password which you should do immediately.
8) Choose a network ID and password to further secure the router
9) Once that's setup you can either keep the cable setup as is or unplug the ethernet cable from the computer/laptop and login to the network with the ID/password on step #8!

This is an almost idiot proof router to set up. The setup does not require any software and the router doesn't come with any. The instruction sheet is essentially one page, but no more is needed for a basic setup. However, you will need two cat-5 cables. The router comes with a chintzy 3 foot cable, but you may find it too short. One cable goes from your modem to the WAN port of the router, and the other from a router LAN port to your computer. Click on your web browser and follow the popup instructions for installation. Make a note of your password and the access key, which you supply. After completing the installation and rebooting your computer, click on the wireless icon on your desktop. Your new wireless connection should appear. Click on the new connection, supply the access key and you are done. Do that for all the computers on your network.

The router was first manufactured in 03/2013, so the firmware should be up-to-date for awhile. The router appears quite adequate for a simple wireless network with light download needs. Hopefully it will last a couple of years. While this is not an advanced router, it has a few additional features, such as establishing guest accounts, which are not explained in the limited instruction sheet. If you need additional help you can go to the ASUS web site or call their tech support at 1-812--282-2787.

I purchased the RT-N10P for my office and have been very pleased so far. Setup was extremely easy with a well laid out user interface, range is solid, and the four SSID feature is great in that you can configure any of the 3 guest SSID's for network access or strictly internet access. You can also use the RT-N10P as a repeater to extend your wireless network if needed, but you do lose the 4 SSID feature when configured as a repeater. I would highly recommend the RT-N10P for practically any type of business or for home.

--- 7/22/2013 update ---

I purchased a 2nd RT-N10P for my parent's home, which is a four-story structure with 7,500 square feet of space. The router is located in the finished basement and is performing well. While somewhat weak the signal does work on the 4th (top) floor and works well throughout the rest of the house. At $29 I am very pleased with both purchases, and again I would recommend the RT-N10P for most small businesses and for home.

I just got this today, so far it is running great. I got it up and running in about 20-30 minutes total, that's counting unhooking my old router and clearing a spot for this one since it wouldn't fit in the same spot as my old one.

It was quite simple to set up too. I just plugged it in, plugged in my ethernet wires, powered it on and opened a browser. It pretty much did everything on it's own after that. The only thing I had to do was set my main password and the password for WiFi (and change the SSID if you want). I was able to get online at that point, it has other options you can tweak if you wish.

It's only been hooked up for about 6-7 hours but so far it's had no problems. I have 2 PCs, a blu-ray player, a Wii and the DirecTV Genie box hooked up to it right now. The Wii is in the same room, maybe 3-4 feet away and the DirecTV Genie is about 10 feet above it on the next floor.

August 15 2013 update. So far I haven't had any issues with the router. I stream Netflix over WiFi on the Wii with no interruptions and streaming on the wired blu-ray player is the same, the blu-ray streams in HD too. The DirecTV Genie streams VoD and Youtube perfectly fine over WiFi as well. Haven't had any resets or signal drops either.

March 27 2014 update. This router is still kicking, still hasn't needed reset and has 2 laptops connected to it now as well as all the other stuff. We've had both laptops on at the same time and never noticed a speed drop or anything, we only have 12mb dsl but both laptops still run the same as if only one of them was connected. I tried one of the more expensive Asus routers after this one was working so well and had to return it after about a week, it started dropping my connections and got to the point it dropped it 5 times in 1 hour. I'll be sticking with this one until it dies.
