The monitor itself is just fine. It's not worth $500, but the quality is fine. As for the speakers, a lot of people think the speakers are way too soft. I never had a problem until today. I could NOT figure out why suddenly I could barely hear the speakers. I turned up my youtube all the way, I turned up the system settings all the way. Still could BARELY hear anything, but I I could hear it yesterday. I remembered messing with the settings on the bottom of the monitor. So, I just turned up the settings on the monitor itself (which had gotten turned down to almost a quarter of the maximum) and could blast the sound again. It still wouldn't be suitable as a TV, but for a computer monitor when you generally sit fairly close, the speakers are MORE than enough. Just make sure to use the settings ON THE MONITOR. The system settings will not turn this all the way up, essentially limiting your maximum output to whatever the monitor is set on.

This monitor is definitely amazing. I have had this monitor for a few weeks now. No dead pixels. Bright clear picture. Once you get the hang of the menu it is smooth sailing. I use this monitor for gaming via DVI to my PC and for watching movies/TV programs via the HDMI cable plugged into my cable box.
Only con I can see is the speakers are weak. I use my own speakers so it really isn't an issue with me.

I highly recommend this product.

ASUS has the single worst customer service and warranty program I have ever had to deal with. If you do buy their product, you'd better pray that you don't have any problems with it, because you won't get any help from ASUS. In the year that I had one of their laptops, mine broke down 5 times. Every time I sent it into their 'service' center, the part they replaced failed again within months, or even weeks. At the end I was so sick of spending hours and hours on the phone with them, paying to have my laptop shipped back time and again for repairs that I gave up. Amazon was great enough to offer me a partial refund for the unit, but ASUS refused to do anything. They also promised call backs from supervisors on at least 3 occasions and I still have never heard back from them.
Please save yourself the horrible headache and loss of data and time. Stick with Toshiba, or really anyone other than ASUS.

I purchased this because it was a good price for the features. The controls are a bit confusing--one of the buttons is both contrast and volume down while another is brightness and volume up. It took me a couple of minutes to figure out how those worked. The monitor also only tilts for adjustment--no height adjustment is possible. However, it is solidly fixed to the base and doesn't have the annoying habit of vibrating when keyboarding like another monitor I purchased from an office supply store then returned. Picture is good and speakers are good for their size.

I bought two of these monitors for my new computer system. They arrived promptly from Amazon and were very easy to set up. There were no dead pixels on either monitor, and I am extremely pleased with them. I'd recommend these to anyone looking for relatively inexpensive monitors.

I've had the display hooked up for exactly 14 days when it quit working. Screen says "No HDMI connection" - the display's menu button will not work. Called The PC Doctor and after various diagnostics and hooking up the old display (which works fine) he gave me the bad news - my new display is bad.

I called ASUS Customer Service and was told that my only options are to send it in for repair or get a refurbished replacement. Outrageous! This is a new monitor. I've since looked online and others have had trouble with this display suddenly not working. Wish I had researched it more.

So, i got my monitor on time. which was nice, didn't know if i could trust a large item not getting lost or stolen. Since it was my first big item purchase.

Anyways, the outer box got rapped in shiping, and was POORLY taped and looked like someone got inside. When i opened the box and the Asus box inside had extra tape over the official Asus tape, which lead to suspicion that someone took my monitor for a joyride. Opened it WTF, the boring manual was gone and there was super dirty hand prints all over the screen and the back side of the glossy back. No protective film was present, which i wanted to keep on for protection. That's why there's rough wear spots. Settings were messed up too. Speakers are quite, headphones have the same sound quality.

P.S. anti glare screen was unexpected, Nice!

In all it works right out of the box, still smells new and after cleaning it, looks great.

Primary use is for my xbox and ps3

Gameplay is good but Battlefield3-4 had iffy graphics (Not 1080p)
havent tried ps3 yet.

Hope this helps all you Gamers.

I do not know if Asus or the company Asus used to send the rebate money played SCAM game or not? Did not honor the rebate as Asus said so, called the company who handles the rebate, told need Amazon Invoice in order to get the rebate. I even yelled the customer service who handled rebate, I simply gave it up after few attempts. So, be careful when buying a product and told will get rebate, but never honored.

Product was shipped without a power cord. This makes the product essentially unusable until someone from Asus can get a replacement shipped. This is the downside of buying online.

I contacted Asus and they refused to take any responsibility for it. They insisted that I had to return the complete unit (monitor and all) to Amazon and have Amazon ship a complete replacement. All over a $5 power cord. They acknowledged that in the long run, that was going to cost them a lot of money. The customer service rep said that was not his concern

Amazon was ready to have UPS pick up the order in it's entirely and ship a complete new order (monitor and all) until I convinced the Amazon support rep that they sell these cords for under $5. Fortunately, the customer service rep saw the wisdom in that solution and shipped me a power cord free of charge.

The response from Asus was shameful. I will NOT patronize that company again

This monitor seems to be under the radar on Amazon, should have received many more reviews. I was looking for an energy efficient LED backlit monitor with built in speakers to reduce clutter and this one had it all. The hutch on my table has a width of 20.5" and it fitted in neatly. It is much lighter than the 17" Sceptre LCD which it replaced and consumes only 30W. Set up was a no brainer, picture is sharp and clear, built in speakers are adequate. Two things to be remembered

1) Response time is 5 ms, not a big deal for me.
2) There are only 5 preset modes for changing picture quality - std, game, night, theater and scenery. No color, sharpness contrast adjusts. You *can* adjust the brightness in each mode. OK with me, I have settled for the game mode.

Amazon cut the price the day I received the unit :--(( But with $10 rebate from Asus can't complain much!
