Hell Within sounds like one part Lamb of God, with some Unearth guitar work, Shadows Fall tempo and a bit of Killswitch Engage melody at times. This a very aggressive and heavy cd that any hardcore fan should like. \m/\m/

These guys are awesome. I actually took Drivers Ed (when I lived in Groton MA, took the class in Townsend) and their drummer was my teacher (Bubba). He was a wicked cool dude with a bunch of wild stories and some crazy antics. Check out his double bass work, besides being a good drivers ed teacher he's a damn good drummer. Their current singer has just started out about 2 and a half years ago. The band (then Twytch) was looking for a singer that would accompany their hardcore music. He does a good job. None of the sounds on this album sound the same. They all got a nice variety with some good hardcore, melodious riffs mixed in. Fans of other Massachusetts bands (shadows fall, Killswitch Engage) should give these guys a look.

I can honestly say, not many bands have touched me in the way that Hell Within have. The music the band creates is not only gut wrenchingly heavy, but also very melodic. Being a fan of Hell Within since there local, unsigned days (as Twytch), I can say that I am proud to see another Mass. based band do something right. The music on this album ranges in topics, dealing with issues such as the molestations in the Catholic Church (Asylum of the Human Predator), the war in Iraq (Merchants of the Blood Trade), to personal demons (Swallow the Stitches). While listening to this album, it really opens your eyes and makes you look at the world in another perspective, it gives you things to think about that you may not have previously had a whole opinion on.

Great album, in my opinion, a must own for any true fan, or just someone looking for a great album to add to there collection.

If by some chance you can get one of the Limited Edition discs with a DVD (First Pressing only)look for me in the moshpit during the video for Self Inflicted Silence (Big red haired guy in a Marilyn Manson shirt). The Video was filmed in 2003 (while the band was still known as Twytch) at the Locobazooka Festival at the Fitchburg Airport in Fitchburg, Mass.

It's very good to know bands like these exist and make this good quality metal. I thought only bands from Europe (Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom) could create nice hard rock but these guys proves otherwise. Hell Within, keep the good work!!!

Another underground band not as popular as others and probably better than half of them out there. Thrash/metalcore/hardcore can probably discribe this very talented band. The lyrics are wonderful and very metaphorical. I recommend a band called Enforsaken if you havent heard of them already. Great brutal cd from start to finish.

As the Ma area has quickly become the birth site for much of the metalcore movement over the past couple of years with bands like SHADOWS FALL and ALL THAT REMAINS, HELL WITHIN are continuing to carry the torch with their "Asylum of the Human Predator" album. As with the previously mentioned bands, HELL WITHIN have taken a thrash base and added multiple flavors to create something that is purely their own. Some of the essences found in this release are sketches of hardcore muscle flexing and Swedish death metal that carry all the blazing guitar hooks and quick-time double base clobberings. Fortifying this intelligently balanced mixture is periodic melody stimulated singing and whining guitar solos. What they accomplished in this album is probably one of the hardest things to-blending the relentlessly brutal with jagged preciseness that will surely dispose of those who are in their path.

Hell Within is a very interesting metalcore band from Boston. They signed to German label Lifeforce Records who have, without doubt, done an amazing job promoting them. I really hope they're going to achieve the success they're aiming, and given the powerful music presented on Asylum of the Human Predator, Hell Within is onto something here.

I'm not really into this type of music, but I still like what I hear on this album. Hell Within reminds me of a cross between later periods of bands like Slayer, In Flames and Shadows Fall. There is also a certain Hatebreed influence to be heard on the more "modern" sounding tunes, such as "Redemption... is a Cold Body" and "Self-Inflected Silence", but I have to mention that Hell Within's vocalist easily blows the Hatebreed singer away. Matt McChesney reminds me of earlier Dark Tranquillity when he does his impressive brutal screams; he is also certainly akin to the singer from Shadows Fall, in the way he constantly changes from harsh to clean singing.

"Godspeed to Your Deathbed" is perhaps the most powerful song on the record. It features neck-breaking riffs with hooks, extremely angry growls that sporadically give way to regular singing, and a nice guitar solo. You got it right -- Hell Within isn't your typical hardcore band; they play nifty guitar solos whose tone is highly melodic and smooth. Guitarists Isaias Martinez and Tony Zimmerman are a solid duo; they play thrashy rhythms as well as fluid guitar solos. The opening riff of "Bleeding Me Black" and the gripping melody of "Open Your Eyes to Open Wounds" are simply mesmerizing -- especially for a metalcore band. Special mention goes to drummer Brian Joyce who will leave you speechless when you hear the drum solo on "Soul Revulsion" or the fantastic kick-drums that pounder like a machine gun on "Merchants of the Blood Trade". Joe Martinez is always there to complement the rhythms with his highly accented double bass plodding along and keeping the songs groovy throughout.

Hell Within is one of those bands that is going to draw the attention of metalcore fans, if they are interested in exploring music with more depth and better songwriting skills. I for one would never look back to the same ol' same ol' metalcore bands out there if more acts like Hell Within were around.

When i discover this band and navigated through the official site, i downloaded the 2 tracks available of the album
so i heard the "Bleeding me black" i felt the hell of the
first begining riff leading the awesome demonic voice of Matt McChesney really blow out the metalcore in a euforic mood that you use to listen traditionaly, in fact i already listen all 10 tracks, believe is really amazing the riffs (great work of Isaias Martinez and Tony Zimmerman) and a excellent drummer like Bubba awesome work also considering the entrances of the riffs and the drum in destempo makes the original work. The tracks alternate demonic voice to clean voice (like Caliban) but in diferent way. Sometimes i figured the voice of Matt seems like Bill Steer from "Carcass" but not completly. So if you are thinking to buy this album, first listen the full tracks at the Official website.
Fully Recomended for those pure "METALCORE FANS".

This group has done something most groups cant do. They have taken a Genre of music and made it their own. With Mind Numbing lyrics, sound splitting Riffs and heart pulsing drums. They make each song their own, and make sure you go away knowing that their music is a one of a kind. They do not conform to the standrds of societies view of music. With pulse quickening that get the blood flowing to rush developed ballards. Their singer Matty can take lyrics and make them so pure and so perfect to listen to. Not many mands can take a scremo post hardcore song and make it understandable and followable. This is a must have CD/DVD combo. They have take the great state of Mass. and exploded them back onto the bed as a birth place of Hard Core Rock..
