5.0 out of 5 stars New Orleans Real, December 25, 2005
This review is from: The Asylum (Paperback)
Starting with one of the best opening lines, this is one cool trip through America's most interesting cities. New Orleans IS American's eternal city and this spook visit is well worth the read.

Find this book and read it. Keep it and read it again. Mr. Ames knows his stuff and works hard to deliver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Down in the Asylum, May 14, 2002

This review is from: The Asylum (Paperback)
John Edward Ames is an expert at using the New Orleans environment and the local Louisiana weather to add suspense to an already tense story. The "Asylum" takes off like a bullet out of the barrel of a saturday night special. And the character of Reno Sloan, a lawyer turned detective, fits the scenery like it was molded for him. The "Asylum" is a fine gumbo of hardboiled horror. I recommend it as a fast read.
