About the Author
Mandy Stanley illustrated both the I Can Count and I Can Spell series and and the award-winning First Number Book and First Word Book, which were both Smithsonian magazine Notable Books for Children. She trained at Great Yarmouth College of Art and Design and Nottingham Polytechnic, where she gained a degree in fashion. She worked in children's wear for three years - since then, among other things, she has produced nursery sets for Mothercare, an award-winning range of toys for Boots and a range of books and other resources based on the 'Babe' character.

I like this book for the colorful pictures and the words that it teaches my kids. However, this is really a picture book rather than a proper book with a story, and only about 10 words are taught. Overall good for the collection, but prefer some of the other titles I have purchased ("Mi Casa") that has a lot more vocabulary. Your child will likely quickly outgrow this book and then have it sit on the shelf.

My toddler and I started "reading" this book together at age 1, and it's a consistent favorite for her. The length is good - not too long, and not too short. Illustrations are bright, simple, and very well-executed. My little one really enjoys the "one item on a contrasting colored background" format. I appreciate the simple Spanish translations. The board book is sturdy enough for every-day reading and takes well to a damp-cloth cleaning. We also read and enjoy _Vamos al Parque_, by the same author and illustrator.
