5.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch
I listen to D+B most of the time, and I feel that this mixed CD is one of the best that I have heard recently - AK1200 manages to find rollers with very rugged amen breaks. His tunes are still driven by the break in an old school way, but at the same time manage to feel as lush, sonic, and complex as any of the new style tech tunes. The Dkay remix of 4Give Myself by...

3.0 out of 5 stars I've heard better...........
hmm, I was pretty excited about this cd when I read the tracklisting and apprehensive at the same time. The tracklisting is good but the order I couldn't get my head around. Now that I've listened to it I still can't get my head around it. Why would you mix the Lycan with Epilogue VIP?? Sure, they're both great tracks but they sound [bad] together. Also, Spiral...

The Dkay remix of 4Give Myself by Illkillz is just amazing. And I love to hear crossfader tricks.

5.0 out of 5 stars DnB at its best, September 2, 2004
This review is from: At Close Range-Mix CD (Audio CD)
When my friend first put this cd in his car, i wasnt expecting much. Im normally not a big fan of dnb, but rather trance and breaks. After about the 5th track, i was hooked. This album had me lovin dnb like it was my favorite genre. AK1200 mixes up his tracks so well with all kinds of tunes that are not repetitious nor drowning.
A very upbeat album with all the right twists in all the right places will keep you comin back and listening to this album anytime! Check out track 12: Pendulum - Spiral.

5.0 out of 5 stars AK1200's Finest, June 8, 2005
This review is from: At Close Range-Mix CD (Audio CD)
I've heard all of AK1200's albums and many other Drum n' Bass artists, being a DnB fan, and I would agree that this is one of the better albums that you could find out there. Other great artists are Dieselboy, DJ Dara, Tipper, Baby Annne, DJ DB and pretty much any artist on Moonshine or Breakbeat Science.

5.0 out of 5 stars Attention D-n-B Fans!!, April 4, 2009
This review is from: At Close Range-Mix CD (Audio CD)
As far as DNB Dj's go, AK1200 isn't as technical as Dieselboy, isn't as hardcore as Dara, and on this disc, his Florida (woot!) background shows through, with a lot of selections on this disc having a Florida-breaks type feel to them- melodic, vocal tracks with a bit of a breakbeat-meets-DNB edge. This is the THIRD time I've purchased this CD. It's that good.

What a great album...a big step up from shoot to kill, which sucked so bad. the beats are great, track selection is great and just the feel is great. theres a couple of weak songs but there at the very end of the cd. this isnt a classic like Fully Automatic but very close and thats why it got a 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars Upfront dancefloor smashes, June 15, 2003

AK1200 comes full storm with this mix, heavy and dark amen madness. The CD is defiantly worth picking up. A highlight has to be track 9-4Give myself, a haunting vocal and a hook you won't soon forget. 17 of the latest tracks doing damage worldwide, what are you waiting for pick it up!

hmm, I was pretty excited about this cd when I read the tracklisting and apprehensive at the same time. The tracklisting is good but the order I couldn't get my head around. Now that I've listened to it I still can't get my head around it. Why would you mix the Lycan with Epilogue VIP?? Sure, they're both great tracks but they sound [bad] together. Also, Spiral sounds stupid mixed with Epilogue VIP. Some of the mixes are pretty good, some others just sound plain stupid and makes the album not flow as good as it could have and as good as ak is surely able to make it flow. So, if you're a big dn'b fan like me then this is worth the purchase because of all the great tracks on it but the mixing is a bit choppy here and there and I've heard better from ak. And I couldn't tell if he was trying to do crossfader tricks during slam vip or if my cd player was messing up. =?
