2.0 out of 5 stars Rich JOCO Boys trying to be hip
There music was and still is very trendy. I grew up in Leawood. Trying to act street in the suburbs never will be cool. Whether they were into Ska when it resurged in the 90's or trying to be the the White Stripes today. They still stink and aren't the rebels they try to be. You have to live it for there to be meaning. Creating a false image and copying others doesn't cut...

I grew up to this CD. These guys, simple songs, but so much soul!!! Ska can really suck, but when it is great its great, and the gadjits are spectacular!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars the gadjits DO rule, September 26, 1999
By A Customer

i saw this band open for hepcat and the slackers about 1 1/2 years ago, the crowd sucked and wasn't into it at all, but i absolutely fell in love with the gadjits.. they put on a really energetic show and the music is just great. this cd is a wonderful combination of ska and soul, i think (without the horns).

5.0 out of 5 stars now this is ska, September 14, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: At Ease (Audio CD)
the gadjits are not your typical ska band for the 90's.basically whenever a person hears the word ska they think of reel big fish or no doubt or some other band that has ruined the tradition of ska(the same way green day and offspring has spit on punks traditon)the only good ska is traditional ska and the gadjits play that with a mix of rockabilly.the gadjits are playing ska the way it's ment to be played..with class and respect(and they are young too-ages range from 17-23)they rank up there with other bands that play trad. ska like the legendary toasters and the slackers.so if your looking for a ska band that knows it's tradition and truly palys from the heart and not for the money pick up the gadjits at eas album or their 1st album or their new one.oh yeah by the way one last thing...hiliary is beautiful!!!!-jason h

5.0 out of 5 stars Just fun music, September 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: At Ease (Audio CD)
I saw The Gadjits open for The Mighty Mighty Bosstones in a real small venue outside Cincinnati, Ohio. Had no idea who they were, but really enjoyed their show. The music is fun, and the youthful energy limitless. They were selling their CDs out in the lobby and I had to buy two and give one to a friend. They even called me sir! Hope they make it big.

4.0 out of 5 stars a cut above the rest, June 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: At Ease (Audio CD)
I love old ska, reggea, rock-steady etc. Not a big fan of alot of the new stuff that has come out in the name of ska these days, but these guys are definately a cut above all those bands. Takes me right back. Great tunes, great keyboards and horns all around. Definately worth buying if your an old school fan.
