Okay collection for the beginner,

This CD is okay, but my main problem with it is that it leaves out a lot of the excellent material Eddie recorded during his years at Motown. The cuts "Keep On Truckin'" and "Boogie Down" are included here in their unedited versions, but the some of the other songs that were originally longer ("Girl You Need A Change Of Mind", "Intimate Friends", "He's A Friend", "Can I") are cut down and are really not as enjoyable as the long versions. If you're just getting into Eddie's work, then this is a good starting point, but I personally recommend getting the ULTIMATE COLLECTION, which has all those songs in their entirety. If you still find yourself wanting more of the Eddie Kendricks sound, you can also check out VINTAGE '78, or search for his other LPs on vinyl, since most of Eddie's solo works are now out of print.

A compilation of several of the best performances of one of the smoothest falsetto voices of our generation. My only regret is that more of Eddie's solo performances are not available.

THIS ALBUM AND PRETTY MUCH ANYTHING BY EDDIE MAKES ME MELT... IM JUST UPSET THAT HIS SONG "BABY", WHICH I THINK WAS RECORDED IN THE 80S, CAN NO LONGER BE FOUND. WHEN 45 RECORDS WERE STILL SOLD, "INTIMATE FRIENDS" WAS ON ONE SIDE AND "BABY" WAS ON THE OTHER..

Along with David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks brought the Temptations to the forefront of 60's & early 70's R&B. This excellent compilation features tracks from the Temptations days as well as some of Eddie's best solo efforts. Highly recommended.

Eddie Kendrix "Tell Her Lover Has Felt The Need",
This review is from: At His Best (Audio CD)
"Tell Her Love Has Felt The Need" is by far one of the best written and arranged songs I have ever heard. It brings me to tears thinking how much pain and agony went into writing such a "personal song".
GOD BLESS YOU EDDIE KENDRIX

This CD is pretty cool. I'm not sure if I should reveal this, but pay close attention to his falsetto voice, especially on high notes. He had a screech in his voice.Everyone knows that lung cancer killed him in '92,but it spread to his throat and ruined his voice. If you listen closely, his voice started screeching right before he left the Temps. But mainly on high notes. The scratch was there in "Ball of confusion" "Runaway child""My christmas tree"(from the 1968 christmas album)and "Just my imagination" was such a low key song,it didn't come out.But basically, the scratch was in his voice on every one of these songs.Just listen for it. But the music is nice to listen to.That scratch is probably the reason why he didn't release too many songs in the 80's,and didn't sing too much lead on the '82 reunion album. But other than his unusual scratch,he had some bumpin' disco music.
