Despite only being able to use two fingers on the fretboard, he still became one of the most popular jazz performers in Europe through the 1930s. When World War II was declared, he went into hiding in Paris, and was able to survive despite the Nazi… Read more in Amazon's Django Reinhardt Store

Editorial Reviews

Absolute masterworks in solo, duo and with the legendary Quintette du Hot Club de France, featuring Stephane Grappelli, Alix Combelle, Andre Ekyan and Hubert Rostaing. The true jazz music wich inspired Woody Allen´s fake movie. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - Especially if you are new to Django, September 18, 2008
This compilation offers a valid take on what many consider Gypsy or Continental Jazz. Listening to this artist is more impressive when you realise he is playing all of his leads with only 2 fingers, his ring and fourth fingers paralyzed and used only for chords. His most popular compositions have become jazz standards. Most of them included in this collection. Highly recommend.
