I 've enjoyed this book so very much both in the kitchen & in my reading chair! The photographs, with beautiful table settings are stunning. I've made many of the recipes, sometimes basing whole meals on them & everything has turned out perfectly. The memories of more gracious times in Charleston seem to take me back to those days. I absolutely love this book & I feel that those who long for the traditions & elegance of the past, when entertaining was an art, will thoroughly enjoy it

This is truley a great book. I could not put it down. I read every page and plan on using some of the ideas for dinner partys and other occasions. It is a keeper. Plus, I visited Mrs Forresters gardens while I was in Charleston and how beautiful they were.

I love this book, besides being an account of the entertaining world of Charleston, it's an inspiration to anyone who wants to entertain more or has an interest in the personal history of the party. Mrs. Staats chronicles 32 years of entertaining in Charleston, what an inspiration.
