At Home Entertaining is a comprehensive guide to hosting parties with style, panache, confidence, and ease. A menu cookbook and party planner, it offers forty-six complete party plans and more than 250 recipes. Included are parties for two, laid-back gatherings for six, guilt-free parties for eight, or really fussy festivities for a crowd. Each of the parties outlined in this book comes complete with an easy-to-follow party plan that addresses every aspect of hosting a fun-filled event. Included with each party are such topics as party backdrop, party mood, over-the-top suggestions, shortcuts, place settings, and a party organizing countdown. Separate topical chapters such as "What Every Host Should Know," "Shaping Your Party," and "How to Partee at Your Party" give the reader insider tips on how to be a relaxed and self-assured host. With names like "Fondue for Four on the Floor," "Tapas Time," "Almost a Pig Roast," "Sparkling Spa Teen Sleepover," "Monthly Supper Club," "Sunset Picnic Supper," and "Howling at the Moon Buffet," each party is unique, fun, and intriguing. At Home Entertaining offers the same kind of practical information for the busy cook that are characteristic of the authors popular cookbook, At Home in the Kitchen: The Art of Preparing the Foods You Love to Eat, with tips on ingredient substitutions, cooking methods, and food presentation.
Born, April 19th, 1953, smack dab in the middle of the other 77 million Baby Boomers, I am today a proud grandmother, author, happy home chef and passionate blogger on my self-created websites Jorj.com and FromNanasKitchen.com. I write about "entry-nights", yummy appys, entrees, desserts and drinks, theme parties and other F-U-N ranging from the laid back to the black tie. My favorite thing in the world are twists on 50's dinner classics, especially when I get the chance to "kick it up!" with a contemporary twist.
Okay. Here comes my culinary resume--try not to get dizzy!
I am the Lifestyle Director and Food Expert at BlueSuitMom.com and contributor to several other mom-oriented websites, including the "Expert's Corner" on BizyMoms.com, where I dish on a wide range of domestic topics, such as winning over picky eaters, pantry stocking tips and the latest time saving devices in kitchen gadgetry.
On the nationally televised front, I hosted a Kitchen Spaces segment, which appeared on the Food Network. I have appeared on nationally syndicated television programs The Daily Buzz, Daytime and At Home Live, as well as Good Morning Texas, Cookin' with Carol and QVC. It has also been my pleasure to record two NPR segments with Linda Gassenheimer on her program, "Dinner in Minutes".
I'm also quite proud of my spokesperson work with Proctor & Gamble, the Florida Citrus Growers, Smucker's, SKYY Sport and Hershey's Chocolate. I use everything I've learned (and eaten!) to help the typical American family achieve a healthy balance between work and home--realizing, along the way, how surprisingly easy fine dining can be. My precious grandchildren make this an enjoyable and very special mission statement, so I hope you'll get on board and follow my Nana Network and cooking blog today!
