This is an incredible, patent-pending, pediatrician created educational toy designed to foster language and communication development at home with parents/caregivers. The U-Play Mat is a U-shaped mat with 15 clear pockets on its surface. The mat is 4 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. The innovative "U" shape allows the child to sit inside the opening of the "U" with full access to the 15 pockets. The child has full visual and tactile access to the whole surface, without having to crawl atop the mat. Child-safe see-through pockets allow fifteen theme-based cards to be secured to the mat surface. This patent pending design allows for the caregiver to sit across and engage the child in ten amazing speech and language exercises using the adorable theme-based card decks. The pockets are designed to be slightly larger than the cards, allowing for the cards to be placed and removed easily. The U-Play Mat comes with an accompanying tote bag. There are eight pockets allowing for all available card decks to be easily carried with the U-Play Mat in the tote bag. The tote is lightweight, surface washable and (if we do say so ourselves) absolutely super-cute! Each deck of U-Play Mat cards has 30 cards, containing 15 pairs of theme-based images. The cards are 4 inches x 6 inches, have rounded edges (no poking!) and are of a thick and durable card stock. There are ten different exercises per card deck described in the accompanying book "How To Use Your U-Play Mat". There are a total of eight theme-based card decks available for use with the U-Play Mat. Two decks (U-Animals and U-Foods) come with the U-Play Mat Starter Pack. As a speech therapist I really love this product. Not only is it a great therapeutic tool, but it's a great product for parents! The shape of the mat encourages quality interactions with your child, and the adorable images on the cards will help to keep children motivated and engaged. I would recommend this product to the parents of any young child. The theme based cards will help to organize your play time, and the tote makes storage and clean up easy! This mat and the accompanying cards can be used to enhance your child's language development. Using this product to engage your child in productive structured play can increase vocabulary, improve following directions, help your child to engage in conversation, and improve overall play skills. This is truly a great way to play with your children!!!

I got this for my son who has a language delay...

I think i wouldnt pay more than 40 bucks for this and i paid a whole lot more for it on amazon.. i feel like sendin it back but my son does love the 'flashcards' which btw bend very easily kinda flimsy...

also, the 'u shaped thing' doenst 'do' anything, u (or child in my case) slide the 'cards' into plastic sections, the thing is made of 'thin cloth' and it doesnt talk or anything..

please dont spend over 40$ on this item i cannot return it cus my son has bent up alot of the cards already, so 'buyer beware' idk who was 'paid' 2 write those other reviews .. it is a good product , but waaayyyy too overpriced, i think, just for alot of 'flashcards' and also, they 'repeat' alot like there r 3 or 4 birds 'the same' ones in a pac or 3 monkeys that r the same, so u know idk..

maybe im missin somethin? i think i coulda made a lot better flash cards for my son for the price i paid for this thing...just sayin..

go 2 walmart or make em urself... u can get a NICE laminator machine for the price amazon charged for this crap!!

maybe i should go back and give it 1 star ..

dissappointed...

This item is even better than I thought it was going to be. My son who has a speech delay because of hearing loss has fallen in love with this game along with the whole family. Being that he is 3 yrs old his attention span is very short but when I bring this out and set it up he comes and sits down and is ready to go. I love that I'm able to sit down with my son and watch him talk and point to things that I never thought he knew. Love Love this item!!!!!
