Pattern is back in fashion in interior design, and there is not doubt that using it well can add character, richness and vitality to a home. From the subtlety of one-colour or textural patterns to the drama of overscaled, vivid patterns, the sheer variety available is breathtaking. "At Home with Pattern" divides contemporary pattern into six major themes: Modern Classics, Opulent Glamour, New Naturalism, Bold & Brave, Nostalgia Reinvented and Eclectic Inspiration - and offers something for all tastes, whether feminine florals, sophisticated stripes or colourful 1960s abstracts. *Sally Conran and Katherine Sorrell provide all the ideas and information you need to create a stylish and liveable home using modern pattern with confidence and flair. *From the conventional to the unexpected, "At Home with Pattern" inspires successful and truly personal decorative schemes.
Having spent a childhood making things from scraps of fabric, egg boxes and washing up liquid bottles, Katherine has now progressed to collecting craft and writing about interiors and design.
In between she did an English degree, spent four years as a news reporter on a local tabloid and worked as a researcher at the BBC. A stint at Elle Decoration magazine confirmed her youthful enthusiasm for all things to do with making and decorating, and she went on to become Features Editor at Homes & Gardens.
Katherine was commissioned to write her first book, The Ultimate Home Style Guide, in 1997, and since then she has written 15 more, on houses, style, collecting and craft. She is about to start work on her 17th.
In 2002 Katherine moved to Cornwall, where she now lives with her family.
