5.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected. June 11, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I usually go for books with a more romantic setting, not so cookie cutter romantic but gentler. This book was very good, it had some rough points but it only added to the depth of the story. Keisha had made some less than perfect choices when it came to her relationships and her very strong need to find love and be loved. Many can say they've had someone in their past who has run in and out of their life leaving behind a trail of heartbreak. She was no different, she also had a child whose father was mentally incapable of taking care of both of them. They loved each but sadly it wasn't meant to be. They say when you stop looking for something that's usually when you find it. In steps love, wrapped in a wonderfully sexy package. I loved everything about this last character. He was manly yet tender. Regardless of what others felt about him, he knew who he was and he knew what he wanted. "The baby" was never ever an issue and that made him even more sexy. After a few mishaps here and there, the road seemed like smooth sailings and Keisha had finally found what she was looking for. I don't see why it couldn't have been left at that with maybe stories on his sisters and her sister and Missy. I will read the next book even though the excerpt shows she took my boo and is maybe doing him wrong. Hopefully Cliffy can have his happy ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED IT! July 29, 2011

Eugene paints a raw, beautiful story with a cast full of authentic characters. Her sense of vivid imagery takes us on a journey that allows us to truly escape into the world of the story. I can seriously identify with the main character Keisha and found myself shaking my head at her at times and cheering her on during other times! Truly a great read! Can't wait to see what else is in store for Keisha in Eugene's next novel!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read! April 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
When it comes to picking men, Keisha has not done a very good job. First was Durran, her first love. She supported him while he was trying to get his music career off the ground. Their "on again, off again" relationship was brought to a halt when Durran got one of his songs on the radio and moved to Atlanta. Even though he wanted her to go, she knew that would be a mistake. Next was her baby's father, Justin. She fell in love with Justin, bipolar and all. Because of his disorder, she had another "on again, off again" relationship with him as well. The only difference is that she had a child with him, which kept him a part of her life. What Keisha really wanted was a family. That's why she put up with Justin as long as she did. When Justin did the unthinkable by committing suicide, Keisha turned back to Durran. Durran was waiting in the wing because he never stopped wanting Keisha. After a whirlwind of once again dating Durran, Keisha thought her life was taking a turn for the better. However, Durran was still the same old Durran. Keisha was determine to put her life back on track. Therefore another man was the last thing she needed. When she goes to Cliff's barbershop to inquire about a job, falling for the shop owner was the last thing on her mind. The more Keisha got to know Cliff, the more she wanted to believe that he was different from the guys in her past. But will secrets and family cause them to miss out on love?

At Last was an excellent read by Bianca Eugene. Eugene has a flare for writing. She draws you in from the very beginning and holds you hostage there to the very end of the story. The development of the primary and secondary characters was great. The secondary characters were essential to the setting of the main story and she did of awesome job of making the story flow seamlessly. Great read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read July 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Loved the main character Keisha & how the author took me on a journey as Keisha matured into a woman & found the love that she had longed for, but had escapes her twice. I can't wait to read the sequel. Keisha is the kind of character that you want to follow her happily ever after, and to see how he continues to evolve as her life throws her curves. I found her very relatable.

BRIEF SUMMARY
Keisha's life seems to be spiraling out of control at certain moments in her life. She wants to find love and her happily, ever after, however, with her choices in relationships, she wonders if she will ever get it right. When it finally seems to be going right, she will try to make it work.

THOUGHTS

This book deserves a double star rating of 10 stars. By reading the book description, I don't think the author did this book justice with the brief description. If you love AA Urban Fiction Romance, you will love this story. I definitely thought the author's amazing story telling of Keisha's life in this book was done very well and at no point did my enjoyment or entertainment decline in anyway. Not sure if most readers will feel the way I do about this book, but I can see myself reading it again within a few months. This story is also told from a first person point of view.

The story revolves around Keisha and the men in her life. The story first takes us on her journey of highs and lows with Durran, her old boyfriend from her past and Justin, her daughter's father, both vying for her attention for a relationship. Periodically the story goes from past to present with both men and how she got to the point where she is currently within her life. Then tragedy struck, nevertheless, she has moved on with her life. When it seems like everything is falling into place, it all came crashing down again. What happens next in this part of her life had me glued to the book. This part of her life was my favorite within the story, and I really want to say more about it, however, I don't want to give anything away. I want the reader to experience what I did as this part of her life will not disappoint at all.
