Book Description

June 26, 2012 A Lucky Harbor Novel (Book 5)
HER LOVE HAS COME ALONG . . .
Amy Michaels loves her new life in Lucky Harbor. A waitress in the local diner, she's looking forward to her first weekend hike through the mountains. But when a wrong turn takes her off the trail, she finds herself up close and personal with forest ranger Matt Bowers. And even though she's tempted to kiss that sexy smile right off his face, she won't make the mistake of getting involved with the town heartthrob.

A former cop whose life went south, Matt doesn't let anyone get too close. But something about the feisty beauty caught his eye the moment he first saw her in the diner. After a hot night under a starry sky, Matt can't deny their attraction-or the fact that for the first time in a long time, he feels the stirrings of something more. Now it's up to Matt to help Amy see that, no matter what is in their past, together they can build a future in Lucky Harbor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addicted to the Lucky Harbor series June 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have been in love with the residents of Lucky Harbor since book one and I have been waiting to see what was going to happen with Amy Michaels and sexy Forest Ranger Matt Bowers.

Neither one of these characters has had a very easy life. Both have had to deal with ups and downs that has left them both jaded about relationships. But the one thing that neither of them can deny is the burning hot chemisty between them.

Even though Amy tries her hardest to push Matt away she just can't seem to keep him at arms length, and the same goes for Matt.

At Last is another winner for Ms. Shalvis! Not only do we get the smokin hot lover story between Matt and Amy, but we also get to see the other crazy residents again! We get another glimpse at Lucille and her crazy Facebook gossip, a brief glimpse of sexy Deputy Sawyer, and a tidbit about Old Lady Burland running over her neighbors foot :) What's not to love about Lucky Harbor!!!

If you haven't already started this series by Jill Shalvis I suggest you do so immediately... and give yourself a whole weekend to catch up!

Amy Michaels gets lost in the woods, alone and inappropriately dressed with no idea of how she is going to get out of the mess she is in. She started her journey to look for a mysterious spot her grandmother wrote about in her diary. She is looking for the answer to finding peace in her life.
Matt Bowers is a forest ranger who rescues Amy when she gets lost on her trek. Having been a soldier and then a cop, he has found this new job to be perfect for him, including rescuing the occasional pretty girl. His nickname around town is "Ranger Hot Buns".
Both Amy and Matt are attracted to each other but they both have baggage in their lives that makes it almost impossible for either one to think about a long term relationship. They dance around each other, much to the amusement of their friends, and finally decide to start a no strings relationship. This is a tried and true plot in romance novels but in this case, it seems perfectly appropriate for two people so dragged down by their past.
The addition of Riley, a teen runaway who Amy befriends, provides insight into Amy's past and into why she acts as she does towards Matt. Her relationship with Riley also sets up a situation that could be the undoing of Matt & Amy's fledgling relationship.
I enjoyed reading this book even though Amy could be a little exasperating at times. She and Matt have great chemistry and it was interesting to see her go from being a self-hater to a person ready for and open to love. Matt also had to move on from his broken marriage and let go of his self-blame. The support of their friends is a big part of how they are able to do so. It was fun to see Mallory and Ty continuing in their romance from the previous book and turning the tables on Amy and Matt. I am anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!

4.0 out of 5 stars Can I move to Lucky Harbor? July 6, 2012
By Paula
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I will read a Lucky Harbor book by Jill Shalvis any day. This is my favorite contemporary romance series to boot! They are the most delightful, funny, and sexy reads that leave me feeling all mushy inside. After devouring the first four books of the series, I've been highly curious about Amy Michaels and Ranger Hot Buns, Matt Bowers since reading Lucky in Love.

Amy is a strong and sassy heroine with a big heart. She's made mistakes growing up and survived being a teenage runaway. Following her grandmother's journal to Lucky Harbor, she is looking for hope, heart, and peace her grandmother once found a long time ago.

Matt Bowers is a to-die-for hero...carefree, laid back, and easy on the eyes. He is a former Navy and Chicago Swat officer. When an incident on the job causes him to lose everything, he moves his life to Lucky Harbor to find peace.

Matt and Amy have been circling each other for months until one day Amy gets lost in the woods and Matt rescues her. When they are forced to stay over night in the woods because a tree has fallen and blocked the road, they find themselves no longer able to resist the sexual attraction they have for each other.

I love the chemistry build up between these two. It's hot enough to ignite the pages.

"He looked her over, making her every nerve ending tingle with awareness, though his gaze was more inquisitive than sexual, as if making sure she was okay, though she had no idea why she wouldn't be.

Then he smiled, and oh, how her misbehaving nipples loved that predatory smile. If his intense, concerned once-over had done things to her, his smile just about undid her from the inside out.

This is such a sweet story about finding yourself. These two people are wounded.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lost and Found in Passion! August 7, 2012
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Amy Michaels is a waitress in the small town of Lucky Harbor in Washington Street. It's a terrific small town surrounded by rugged beautifully scenic sites which draws many hikers and others with different motives. Amy is a waitress and is off for a long walk or hike, a time to be free of all the burdensome thoughts that so trouble and exhaust her.

For Amy has a troubled past that she's not proud of but which have made her the strong, compassionate person she is. While on one of her first hikes, she gets lost and needs help but her past won't allow her to beg for it. And wow is she annoyed when the local forest ranger and former cop Matt Bowers shows up and knows she is lost. But Amy is stubborn and comically gets herself in deeper trouble before grudgingly admitting she needs help from this sexy-looking, fit, more than capable guy who wants to give her some helping presence but not the kind she's thinking about in her shameful loss of face caused by her getting lost.

Matt is not just amused by Amy, however, but also willing to give her enough slack to save face, not to mention he's doing anything to avoid what looking at her body is doing to his own. They meet several times and little by little they begin opening up to each other, physically at least for sure, but it takes a longer time for the trust to develop.

Ironically, it's the presence of another troubled teen, Riley, whom Amy meets and then both are desirous of being helpful without appearing obvious. Amy "knows" what this gal has been through, but things turn notoriously dangerous as someone is after Riley and this tough gal is determined not to reveal any secrets about the matter.
