Book Description

January 2003
This unique meditation on the names of Jesus and their transforming power leads readers to experience His presence in their lives and renew their devotion to Him. Rather than a how-to book, At the Name of Jesus focuses on the awesome reality of who Christ is: Lion of Judah, Redeemer, Immanuel, Deliverer, Lord of Glory. Tricia Rhodes communicates her passion for Christ, inspiring readers to respond to God’s call with wonder, joy, delight, and awe.

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

These 31 "meditations on the exalted Christ" resonate with passion and conviction. Rhodes (The Soul at Rest) reflects on many different attributes of Christ, who is simultaneously a servant and a powerful Lord, the King of Kings and a humble companion. Rhodes casts her net widely for helpful illustrations, drawing upon some stories from the early Christian church (which is rare and refreshing for an evangelical book) while also exploring the significance of contemporary events like the Rwandan genocide of 1994. The book offers strong Bible study resources, as when Rhodes teases out important meanings from the oft-overlooked story of the New Testament prophetess Anna in the Gospel of Luke. While the writing can be overdone (e.g., excessive adjectival descriptions and italicized words), Rhodes's book speaks ardently about the love and power of the risen Christ.

4.0 out of 5 stars Experience a spiritual revival!, August 27, 2003
This review is from: At the Name of Jesus: Meditations on the Exalted Christ (Paperback)
When I picked up this devotional, I thought this would be a five-minute pick-me-up. It wasn't. This isn't set up for five minutes. This book requires a quiet spirit, and time to sit back and absorb everything. It is divided up into five sections: Reflection, Reading scripture, Meditation., Response and Prayer. Each time I read one of these devotions, I came away awed by different aspects of Christ. This book made me want to just bow down and praise Jesus for all that He is. The book went a lot deeper than I ever imagined. It will cause one to experience a spiritual revival. I highly recommend this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Deeper Look, July 24, 2003
This review is from: At the Name of Jesus: Meditations on the Exalted Christ (Paperback)
I have enjoyed all of Tricia Rhodes books, but this one was especcially unique. Tricia's passion and love for Christ were contagious, filling me with a desire to go to a deeper level in my relationship with Jesus, and to exhault Him as He deserves. The chapters require time, for scripture reading, journaling, and prayer, but it is well spent to say the least. I have recommended this book to my pastors and several friends.
