This is a good concert. I would of loved to be there. Thanks to this DVD, I can at least get close. Inga Rumpf is still an amazing vocalist. After all these years, her voice has weakened very little, even though she describes herself as a grandma. She is joined by the incomparable Jean-Jacques Kravitz and a really good backing band for a journey through classics from Frumpy, Atlantis, her solo career and some well chosen covers. It's pure magic any time she and Jacques are together and this is no exception.

As good as this is, this falls far short of the original music. While that is generally the rule when artists get older, that might not have to be the case here. Inga and Jacques playing How The Gypsy Was Born still gives me a tingle in the spine. Kravitz should have played longer, though, and there was no intricate guitar and organ interplay. Where is Rainer Baumann these days? Another Frumpy reunion like in the 90's would be a dream come true.

The problem here is the backing band. Don't get me wrong, these are some very talented people. Unfortunately Frumpy is an impossible act to follow. The Atlantis songs don't quite measure up here either. I believe this is Rumpf's regular backing group and they know the songs well and have an appreciation for what Inga does, it's just never going to be the same, is it? That being said, it's a great concert, with some live bonus footage and a great interview with Inga, added as bonus features. The sound and picture quality are great. This DVD is well worth the money, and absolutely essential for fans of Inga Rumpf. Just know what to expect.
