FINALLY! New music from Brand New! For those that are already fans, you know that Brand New has grown and changed over the years and this has always been a positive thing for me. With every CD they've released, I've liked the new one more than the last...which I didn't think was possible! "At the Bottom" seems to hold true to this trend. It's different enough from the tracks on "The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me" to keep you from getting bored, but not so different that you begin to wonder if you're listening to a different band altogether. I can't wait to hear everything else that's on Daisy!

And of course, for those of you that aren't fans already...where have you been?! I would highly recommend this song and any other song by Brand New. So get started listening and loving!

I am a long time Brand New fan and would've never given anything off their past two releases less than 5 stars.

This track, however, feels like a Modest Mouse/Pixies tinged re-hash of "Degausser"
(the title of "Degausser" itsself was in homage to the Pixies' "Debaser")

Not to say this song isn't great, it just doesn't feel like much of a departure from "Devil and God" material;
and one of the best parts about Brand New is their ability to bring something completely radical to their fanbase while still somehow keeping the magic with every release.

The lyrics are the definite weak point on this track.
Jesse Lacey's sincerity when shouting "I'd give you drugs on a silver plate" is not so convincing.

Acardi is the principle songwriter for the upcoming album (writing all but one or two tracks mostly on his own);
and since no article I've read yet has given Lacey credit for the lyrics, I'm assuming this is Acardi's doing.
One can further assume this because its written in the hypothetical (what if) tense,
Acardi wrote the lyrics (and music for) "Handcuffs" on the last album, which was also in the hypothetical.

I'm still absolutely thrilled for "Daisy", but I'm not holding my breath for it to be radically different from "Devil and God"

Brand New proves yet again that they can continue to grow and mature as a band and produce music that separates themselves from the rest of the punk/rock scene. While other bands merely put out what's popular at the moment, Brand New's music will far outlast the rest since their songs are written with true passion and feeling. "At the Bottom" sets the perfect tone for the long-anticipated fourth album and gives us a glimpse at what is sure to be their best work yet.

Alright. I'll be honest. I cannot wait for this album to come out. At the Bottom was a great sample of what is to come and I'm excited for the new direction they've decided to take. As [...] reports that this album was conceived by guitarist Vincent Accardi instead of frontman Jesse Lacey. This will be an intense month and a half of anticipation.

This song sounds like the best of Brand New with a little bit of twist from the old songs. If you don't get this song, then you will not know the full range of the band and what they can do with all kinds of sounds vocally as well as with instrumentals. Just a great overall single by the single greatest band in history. Get it!!!!!!!!

It's been three years and thus the specified waiting time between Brand New albums has finally passed. The first single off the upcoming "Daisy" record is pretty different from the sound people traditionally associate with Brand New. However, the theme continues right where their last album left off. This song is full of searching questions, loneliness, questioning your relationship with God, and how it feels to go through the motions. Life is hard enough on its own, so to have friends and family close to you is very important to making it through sane and happy. That's what this song is about: Overcoming adversity, hopefully with the help of those around you.

Objectively, the music sounds like a single should. It's catchy enough to play on the radio, but just quirky enough to make a few "die-hard" fans of the band pull out their copy of Your Favorite Weapon just to reassure themselves that it is in fact the same guys. Twangy guitar, an industrial sound, lots of feedback and distortion, etc... all add to the confusion the singer experiences.

Definitely a great song, and I'm definitely excited for the album on September 22nd!

Every band has to have an album that the fans deems as crap, right? Curiously, I'm waiting to see if that happens to Brand New. As an avid follower of Brand New for several years, I get easily excitable with any new material release. At the Bottom was no exception. Hearing the 20 second preview did not satisfy my curiosity but it did make me weary of the new album. Guitarist Vincent Accardi wrote most of the songs on 'Daisy.' My personal history with songs written by Accardi isn't necessarily great. I normally shy away from those songs due to the fact that his style is different. I don't hate the songs but I definitely wouldn't deem them as my favorite. This happened for At the Bottom. Fortunately for myself, I tend to grow into songs so it was only a matter of time for it to happen with At the Bottom. I can not express how happy I became when listening to the full song. The song could have easily fit in with Devil and God. It's a great single to help introduce the upcoming album. I don't see a chance for Brand New to possibly make a crap album only because they manage to keep getting better and better.
