This review is from: At the Thunderbird Rock N Roll Venue (Audio CD)
I stumbled upon this cd when I found out Darrel Higham was Imelda May's guitarist (and husband). Once I bought it and gave it a few listens, I couldn't believe this band wasn't better known! While so much of what is passed off as rockabilly these days is an over the top, cartoonish version of the music that Elvis, Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Johnny Burnette, et al, pioneered, Higham and the Enforcers deliver the goods in classic late '50s style. Higham is a fine guitarist and vocalist, and his rhythm section of Rob Tyler (drums) and Mick Wigfall (upright bass) is superb as well. As a special treat, "Dealing With The Devil" features Imelda May (then Imelda Clabby) on vocals. If you're looking for some great rockabilly that will take you back to the golden age of the genre, Higham and his band deliver about 75 minutes of the real stuff on this cd. You won't be disappointed.
