I first saw this book in the library and immediately went home and ordered the book. This book has some of the best battlefield scenes and terrain shots of the Korean War that I can find.

The book starts out with an introduction of the history of the Koreas, its people and how the cold war turned hot in this poor country next to China. The book continues it coverage by describing the North Korean invasion, the Pusan perimeter, the Inchon landing and the Allied advance to the Yalu River and the Chinese counterattack. The summary is brief but good; the author who was there in the ranks, delivers a tribute to the troops who were outnumbered on many occasions and fought bravely. If you want a full scale account I would suggest books by Blair, Appleman or Hammel but this concise book is very commendable.

The book also has 220 black and white photos which was the original reason for purchasing the book. The photos are of our troops in the field, the defenses that were built, the rugged terrain that had to be overcome and much more. After reading the book, I'm doubly happy for getting it. If you have an interest in the Korean War, this would be an admirable addition to your collection.
