Edred Thorsson, Phd. is the Yrmin-Drighten (Grandmaster) of the Rune Gild (Gild is the archaic spelling of Guild). He founded the Rune Gild in 1980, and has spent over a quarter of a century dedicated to the remanifestation of the Elder Runic Tradition. In "At the Well of Wyrd", Thorsson adresses the techniques of Runic Divination from the most traditional perspective, providing examples of ancient techniques of divination utilizing the 24 Stave Elder Futhark system, providing genuine examples from a historical perspective. Rituals of Runecasting are covered in detail, as well as lore on each of the 24 Runes of the Futhark. The philosophy behind Runic Divination is covered, informing the reader of the proper mindset that must be developed for TRUE Runecasting to be effective. The entire work is well organized, providing detail in all of the necessary areas required for potent effectiveness in one's Workings, while not not bogging the Reader down in Unnecessary personal ramblings or Moral Dogma. If you are serious about learning effective techniques of Runic Divination, look no further: as a student of Magic for 13 years, it is rare that one truly finds a book that stands on it's own merits as "At the Well of Wyrd" does; I recommend it to all who seek the Mysteries of the Runes.

'At the Well of Wyrd' is one of Thorsson's runic triology, the others being 'Futhark' and 'Runelore', which are geared at a higher level. Start with this one and move on to the others once you have a basic understanding of the runes.

this book aids both the novice and experienced diviner. new students of the runes would be served well by this book. it guides you from the usual interpretations of each rune in a casting, giving interpretations for both wealful and woeful meanings for each rune as it may come up in the reading. it also gives instruction on more advanced and complicated means of casting the runes should one desire to use these methods after gaining experience with more basic methods. in all, its resource that will be of value for some time to anyone who desires to seriously study the runes.
