From School Library Journal
reSchool-Grade 3-Children and their adult mentors will delight in this multifaceted craft book. There are seven broad categories: "African Safari," "Tropical Forest," "Animals & Their Young," "Inside the Aquarium," "The Reptile House," "Northern Forest," and "The Big Cats." Each section has a map and a short introduction, followed by several projects about individual creatures. Each project is covered in three pages. Scissors symbols indicate the level of difficulty, which is also listed in the index. The required materials would be found in most craft cupboards. Some of the models of the animals are realistic; some are more representational. The steps are clearly numbered and fairly easy. Black-and-white line drawings will aid in project construction. For children who like hands-on activity, and especially those who are interested in animals, this book will hold hours of fun. Teachers will find complete cross-curricular lesson plans, with literature, art, science, and geography tie-ins. Similar in concept and format to Regina Curtis's The Little Hands Playtime Book (Williamson, 2000), Press's title can be considered a more specialized version for a slightly older age group.
