4.0 out of 5 stars Not for the Impatient!
Deer Hunter II remains one of my favorite games even as I go through (and quickly tire of) first person shooters, high-graphics flight simulators, and extensive strategy games. Many people find this game monotonous, but with a little patience, you can have an enormous amout of fun. Its beauty is in its simplicity, and even though it has no flashy graphics, it can still...

3.0 out of 5 stars This is a pretty good game
I am not the type of person that likes to hunt I basically got this game just to see what it is and it's a great game to play when you are bored or on a rainy day. The graphics are ok but I was hoping for better. There are cheat codes with this game, in the instructions it tells you them. Since I am impatient I type in the code that has the deer stand right in front of...

This review is from: Deer Hunter 2 (CD-ROM)
Deer Hunter II remains one of my favorite games even as I go through (and quickly tire of) first person shooters, high-graphics flight simulators, and extensive strategy games. Many people find this game monotonous, but with a little patience, you can have an enormous amout of fun. Its beauty is in its simplicity, and even though it has no flashy graphics, it can still be a fun challenge. You can choose your location, your weapons (everything from a .30 rifle with scope to a crossbow to a blackpowder musket), and your accessories (three different calls, binoculors, GPS, scents, sprays, decoys, and more). You can run, walk, creep, hide behind trees, or sit high in a tree stand while you track those deer. There are cheat codes, but I've found its more fun not to use them. The thrill of the game is when you fire off that round and see your kill drop to the ground, or, if you're not so lucky, run off as you miss. Its not an easy task to track down the deer in this game, but persistance pays off, and before you know it, you've got that big buck in your scope. So give it a try, I highly recommend it.

I am not the type of person that likes to hunt I basically got this game just to see what it is and it's a great game to play when you are bored or on a rainy day. The graphics are ok but I was hoping for better. There are cheat codes with this game, in the instructions it tells you them. Since I am impatient I type in the code that has the deer stand right in front of you so I can shoot it. Of course you can do things the hard way and track the deer and shoot it, this is a hard challlenge and I have never been able to track one down with out using the chat codes. The tools that I can remember from the top of my head that you use is : Buck Urine,Camoflauge jacket, some kind of doe heat bottle,a cahir to put up in a tree, a whistle, and some other tools that I can't remember. There are also varites of guns. There are like 8 guns some with scopes some without. And there are 2 bows to choose from. All and all it's a decent game for people that are hunters and people that aren't. I know i'm not a hunter and I think it's pretty fun.

I don't have this game but I know someone who does. This game is so cool.It has deer calls , guns and sents and all that. I really recommend you get this. But if you like to hunt bighorn sheep, black bears, caribou and deer ( 3 different species ) I strongly recommend CABELA'S BIG GAME HUNTER 3.It has 14 rifles, 2 shotguns, 2 handguns, 3 muzzleloaders, and 4 bows and even a hunter safety course !

3.0 out of 5 stars you shoot deer, July 13, 2006

What, do you think the point of the game is to walk around the woods shooting FLAMINGOS? That wouldn't be much of a challenge.

Deer Hunter II is another one of those Christmas gifts that never got much attention. In that respect, Deer Hunter II is like fruitcake. Well maybe not, but it sure is fruity. The code where you can run so fast you actually CATCH UP to the deer is hilarious. You can run up to them, glance over to your right, see the deer running beside you, and shoot them that way!

If you want to play the game normally, you have to sit patiently and wait for the deer to quietly come out of nowhere. It can take a while, just like real hunting. When they're close enough for you to aim your gun and get a clear shot, TAKE THE SHOT!

Provides a little bit of fun. I'm sort of disappointed you can't shoot your own truck, though (it's sitting in the woods- look for it).

I purchased this back in 1998 and of all the deer hunter games I liked this one the best. You don't need to have the disc in the computer to play it.I hunt deer in the real life and find this to be a easy way to capture that hunter realisiam. This disc came fast and worked flawlessly. I highly recomend this game to anyone who likes deer hunting

As a gamer, I don't personally see what he sees in this. The graphics are low quality and the gameplay is very simple. But as a hunter and an older gamer, he absolutly loves it! It is the one thing he asked for at Xmas so I picked it up for him. I know he would give it 5 stars but I don't think it's worth more than 3.
