In the non pro version of this app you only get one free game. If you are considering buying all the games for $9.99 do it from the free version. This app does not give the feature nor is it in the description. I have to agree with all the bad reviewers. Two dollars (the stated value of this app) on the free version of the app would only get you about 6 additional games. However you always get the option to buy all the games for $9.99. Its a good value for a die hard Atari fan to say the least. This "PRO" version is less than pro. Sure you get 9 games for the $1.99 but no option to buy the rest for $8 additional dollars. Other reviewers insist that it is there but it's not in the description and I didn't find it as readily as the free version of this app.

As far as a choice for FAOTD Amazon failed us because the app was already free for the die hard fans that were going to spend money on the games. It is a good value for causal gamers who would not spend any additional money. But even if you had a favorite atari title and it was not one of the free 9... the free app plus .99 gets you the game you want plus two others that are similar to it. Again the free app is more "Professional" than the Pro version.

1.0 out of 5 stars A lump of coal for Christmas. December 25, 2011

As an Atari fan, I wanted to like this app. However, from the bad design to the greed on which the games are sold, I am disgusted by this attempt. Shame in you Atari!

It's EXACTLY as described. You get 9 games free. Yes, they are all there. 4 games are in the arcade section, the other 5 are in the console section. Click on the Arcade Cabinet icon to get the arcade games. Click on the Joystick to get the console games. Yes, if you want other games, you have to buy them. Everything is exactly as described.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading December 25, 2011
By Mike
This is a very silly use of FAOTD. There is nothing "free" about it, just a front for a store to spend your money. Sad and lame.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great memories December 25, 2011

First review ever...felt the need to defend. Can't figure out what the big fuss is about. Works great on my Asus Tablet. Controls for each game is customizable for preference. Touch sensitivity c a n also be customized. I suggest downloading the game and trying it out yourself, instead of judging it from someone else's experience.

Wow, this is a tricky little money run being played. Today, I was looking to buy all the games, since I know the non-Pro version of this app allows you to buy all 100 games for $9.99. I've checked every option in this Pro version and it only allows the purchase of about 4 games at a time for 99 cents per set of about 4 games. So to get all 100 via this Pro version would cost way more than buying all 100 for $9.99 via the non-pro version. (Total cost to get all 100 via the Pro version would be over $20.)

I also noticed, the Amazon app store offers both the Pro and non-Pro versions. The Google Play Store (Google's App store aka Android Market) only offers the non-Pro version. So at this point, Google better protects their customers from over paying in the long run. Amazon did offer this Pro version for free once as the Free App of the Day. For us who got it on that one free day, we basically won an opportunity to try a handful more games and also be taken for a ride in possibly overpaying in the long run.

So, I'm uninstalling this Amazon app store Pro version. And I'm goimg to use Google Play to install and purchase all 100 games. Take note Amazon, you should not have played this "game" with me. Now Google will get $9.99 from me that could have been yours.

I don't appreciate Atari trying to pull this on me either. But what can I say, for $10 I'm willing to pay. Just not via their enabler Amazon. This also makes me further dislike the idea of ever buying an Amazon Android device that locks customers into the Amazon app store and is not compatible with Google Play. I'll keep my Android app buying freedom and not buy any Amazon devices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent December 25, 2011

Test devices:
Samsung Epic, Android 2.3 official
Viewsonic gTablet, FrankenTab (Android 2.2)

First up, those of you that didn't alternate between pumping quarters into arcade machines and blowing into your game carts when they didn't work right will probably want to skip this. For the rest of you, this app is easily the best way to bring back some old memories of when gaming was young.

Atari's Greatest Hits Pro comes with a nine games (4 arcade and 5 2600), unlike the free version which only comes with Missile Command. The remaining 91 titles can be purchased in 3 game packs for $1, or get the whole collection for $10. Games are broken down into roughly 17 arcade titles and 83 Atari 2600 titles. So, if you buy the whole deal, that's ten cents per game. Transactions for purchases are handled though Amazon, which takes away the worry of charges from unknown vendors.

The visuals are very good, as is the sound. Some may complain that the sound isn't reproduced exactly like the original, but one has to remember the speaker(s) in their device aren't exactly known for quality sound reproduction. You're certainly not going to get the level of bass out of them that many of them that even a generic TV can do.

The biggest worry I had was the control set. In each game, the software offers up multiple control schemes. Each scheme is set up so to make the game easy to play based on how you like to hold your device. I tried out each set on both phone and tablet, and they worked well. They worked even better when I changed the sensitivity setting that Atari thoughtfully put in. Switching between the larger screened tablet and phone was a little difficult as I'd become used to where the virtual buttons were, but in no time I was able to adjust and play well.
