2.0 out of 5 stars linzer cookie cutter
I received this cookie cutter to use to make Christmas cookies. After making 2 cutouts with the cookie cutter it broke. It is not made well and should not break so easily.

An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. I purchased this product because my cooking has progressed to the point that I am as concerned about presentation as I am the taste of the food I fix for my family. I use this product to make fancy cuts on cookies, pie dough and raw vegetables. I have summarized my observations of this product below:

Pros:
1. Easy to change the shape of the cutout
2. Small size means easy to store
3. Excellent for cookie dough as well as chilled pastry and raw vegetables
4. Easy to clean by hand
5. Makes a very impressive cookie or pie crust that is deceptively simple

Cons:
1. Of limited usefulness but still quite fun (It wouldn't be the first kitchen gadget I would add to my collection)
2. Small size means it should not go into the dishwasher unless you want it to end up in the bottom

Overall, if you are looking for way to enhance the appearance of the food you serve your family you will get a lot of use out of this. However, if you don't do a lot of baking, I would probably pass on this item.

I was on my 2nd batch of my lintzer cookies when this product came apart, I tried to fix it but the inner ring came out (the blue part) and I could not put it back together. Up to that point it worked very well.
I handled this product with care so I cannot understand why it broke.

Last Christmas I decided to add these cutters to my (vast) cookie cutter collection. First, the pros: The large cutter is a nice size, makes pretty cookies, and has an easy release. However, I had problems with the inner cutters. Maybe mine is defective, but they don't cut all the way through the cookie. My inner cutouts end up looking raggedy. They are also difficult to use because the cookie dough gets stuck inside the cutters and I have to dig it out with a butter knife. Plus they're difficult to keep clean as the dough gets caught in the cracks.

What I've been doing is cutting out the main cookie, then using the smaller cutters separately. It's tricky because I don't always get it lined up right and if I'm too close to the edge the cookie might break.

I really do like the large cutter and the plunger works well. I've been using it to make homemade Oreos if nothing else. I'm still going to buy a new set, though.
