The Athena S.5 Bookshelf Speaker combines great looks, flexible placement options, high power handling, and massive sound, all in one awesome speaker. The tiny S.5 can be used in many applications -- it's perfect for music use in small rooms or as an add-on to a home theater system as rear channels. The S.5 has great bass response and provides an amazing listening experience.

The S.5 features a one-inch teteron dome tweeter and a four-inch, molded polypropylene cone woofer. The tweeter has a dispersion enhancing faceplate for a wider listening window and excellent stereo imaging. The rear-vented design of the S.5 delivers extended bass response, so your listening experience will be accented with some extra "bump."

The high gloss black cabinets look beautiful in any home, and the silver baffles offer a stylish accent. The finish allows it to be used in conjunction with any other Athena Technologies models. It is also completely timbre matched, so it can be utilized in conjunction with either SCT or Audition series models. The S.5 is well-designed, well-built, and incredibly versatile.

The included mounting bracket is sturdy and simple to install. It requires no special tools and allows you to set the speaker at very flexible angles so you can place the speaker where you need to, and aim the sound how you desire.

It can be added on to an Athena Point 5 MKII system to achieve 6 or 7 channel home theater systems. The S.5 is also a very good small bookshelf speaker that can be used in pairs with or without a subwoofer for many application including dorm rooms, offices, dens, bedrooms etc. The S.5 speaker combines great looks, flexible placement options, high power handling, and big sound from a small package, all in one! The S.5 has great bass response all on its own, but can be coupled with a Subwoofer for more impact.The cabinets are finished in high gloss black with silver front baffles which look beautiful in any décor. The finish also matches well with today's televisions and electronics. The S.5s also are a cosmetic match to other Athena models as well as being sonically timbre matched for mix and match flexibility. The speakers are shielded for use near a television.The included mounting bracket is one of the sturdiest and simplest designs on the market today. I needed new speakers for my home theater system, so after doing some online research,I decided to try the Athena's out.I ordered these satelites,a matching center channel,and a powered subwoofer from amazon for 50% off last month.Out of the box the speakers didn't impress me,they sounded "tinny" and "harsh".I thought about returning them, but decided to wait a little while.The manufacturer states that a "break in" period is required for these speakers to attain thier full potential,and they are right.I listened to these speakers again after they were broken in,and I am pleased with them.I would describe the sound quality as "very detailed",and rather "bright".I would recommend these speakers as long as a subwoofer is used with them.

This is one of the best speakers i have heard for thie price .Premium sound that won't wreck your budjet. Best when paired with a subwoofer.
