Each Athena S.5 satellite speaker combines great looks, flexible placement, higher power handling, and huge sound in a compact housing that measures a mere 5.75 by 8.5 by 6.25 inches (W x H x D). The result is a versatile speaker that works in almost any listening environment, from a small bedroom (as a pair of stereo speakers) to a moderate-sized living room (when connected to the front or rear channels of a home theater system). Add a second set of S.5s, Athena's C.5 center-channel speaker, and an AS-P series active subwoofer and you'll have a complete surround sound setup that makes movies come alive without sacrificing the vibrancy of your favorite music. The S.5s offer such features as timbre-matched drivers, meaning the speakers can be teamed with virtually any other Athena speaker in a home theater system, and 0.5-inch medium-density fiberboard (MDF) enclosures that minimize resonance while enhancing the mid-range frequencies.

The speakers are visually distinguished by their high-gloss black cabinets, which look elegant in virtually any setting, and the black baffles. Meanwhile, the high-quality audio stems from the 4-inch injection-molded polypropylene cone woofer and the 1-inch Teteron dome tweeter, which combine to reproduce a frequency response of 80 Hz to 20 kHz. And because the S.5s are magnetically shielded, you can locate them near the TV without suffering from picture distortion. The speakers even come with wall-mounting brackets, so you don't have to find empty bookshelf or table space for installation. Adding to the versatility are the brackets' flexible construction, which let you place the speaker at the appropriate angle and aim it toward the seating area.

I have the Athena S2/P2 combo for my front speakers and I played these speakers as the front pair to break them in and they sounded great. They are not a deep as the S2 (especially with the P2) but sound great. Very clear, the lower end simply rolls off and does not distort the speakers. For the price It can't be beat. If I was starting over again I would simple by the Point 5 set with a sub and be done! Great speakers. Sound great and are nice and small. Athena makes great products!
