First off, the Fine GPS permission is a purely voluntary feature that you can turn on/off to loc stamp your photos. It is not actively shared with anyone. The rest of the permissions are fine.

Second, this version on the Amazon App Store IS currently the most up-to-date like the one available via Google Play. In fact, the devs have been quite active in updating and tweaking the Amazon Appstore offering (see bottommost note).

Third, I really don't know techie photo stuff. I point, I click, and if I like, I save.

As for the rest, PERFECTLY CLEAR is a very polished camera app that brightens (and more complex tweakings) photos and any other image (I had SKETCHBOOK PRO created images available in the in-app carousel). I love the photo carousel, much more UI friendly than me having to skip around the My Files interface. The only photos I had available to test it out on were either my cats in various cutsey poses (I know, I know) or product review photos... can't say PERFECTLY CLEAR did much for my cats, but there was a definite improvement to my product pictures in terms of clarity.

One particular aspect I did like very much was the ability to save/send photos to specific apps, like SKETCHBOOK PRO and saving as .pdf images, something I normally have to do manually.

Is this a better camera app than the one included on my Samsung Tab 3? I guess so; it certainly is a lot more streamlined. I repeatedly compared the views between the two camera apps, and PERFECTLY CLEAR was always the more vibrant image. I didn't find any cropping tools in the editor portion, so I will still have to use a separate editor for my product photo cropping before uploading to Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars My NEW Default Photo App! SIX Stars if possible! May 16, 2014
Verified Purchase
As a professional photographer, I've relied on Perfectly Clear in my pre-processing apps for several years, and have come to expect excellent results from it, making my workflow much easier and quicker than manually changing settings.

As a bonus, I can use it to actually take the image, rather than importing them as I do on the PC. There are several new tools available to me while using the camera, so going forward I expect to be able to take close to acceptable images through my phone or tablet.

The app gives AMAZING results at times, and not so noticeable results at others. Lots of variables goes into how a phone or tablet captures an image, not to mention the hardware, the dirty lens, software, and so forth. Which is going around the block to say YMMV.

By the way, if I had one criticism, it would be that it isn't obvious how to save the image once you have worked on it: You do so by tapping the "<" share button.

Had I known it existed for Android, I would have bought it much earlier! The normal price at the time of writing is fantastic; I'd have been willing to pay double, had I known it was available.

Note: The app is designed to be able to Geotag photos, which is OFF by default. The sharing via Twitter and Facebook is also OFF by default. I complain about Facebook and GPS permissions when they aren't necessary or warranted, like in games. Here, there is legitimate reasons for the permissions. I have *zero* qualms over them; it helps that I have had previous experience with the developer, and trust them.

BOTTOM LINE: Get it. Seriously.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good May 16, 2014

I picked this up on sale a few days ago on the other app market; funny how that works as it's now the FAOTD here on Amazon. From what I am told a developer knows a week in advance from Amazon when their app is going on promo and I guess they decided to push it for a lower price elsewhere before it went free here on this market. Lesson learned; don't buy apps from markets other than Amazon.

As for the app, it works very well and is almost perfect keep mind you will still need your stock camera app for video recording.

My only suggestion is to add a new mode on the left bar that takes two photos and stitches them together to remove noise. The app "ProCapture" does this and it works amazing. This app has a post photo software filter for noise reduction but it's not as good as ProCapture which takes two quick photos and merges them to reduce noise.

Panoramic shots work well enough but I found it to stitching issues at times. The way it's done in this app is unique; you just move the phone instead of trying to line up the edge of the previous photo. Again it's a cool concept but needs a little work.

Thankfully there is not any garbage added like stupid photo frames, celebrity buddy's, dumb drawn on glasses/mustaches and the rest of the featurecreep stuff other devs have added to their once professional camera apps. Hopefully this app will stay free of that garbage and keep things professional. I really hope the dev continues to work on things that matter instead of adding junk like other camera apps have done.

Perfectly Clear could definitely use some more features like clap to activate count down timers, blink detection, best shot, etc (again those features with substance and not junk) but overall it's a great app.

Will this app let me use the camera on a Kindle Fire HD?
Unfortunately, my youngest brother currently has my FIRE HDX, so I cannot explore it directly. However, there is a toggle option under the gear (lower left while camera function is active) that swaps camera position from back to front, so I am going to guess this will allow the app to be used... Read More
