5.0 out of 5 stars View of a Mother of Baseball Players, May 21, 2010
By
As a mother of two baseball players, one playing at the Division I college level, the other playing in high school, who are both looking to be drafted at some point in the future, this book was very helpful. I especially liked the section written by Darren Heitner, regarding the choices players make at the high school level deciding whether or not to go on to college and receive the value from the college experience, or to go on to the pros after being drafted out of high school. As a mother and one who has followed my boys baseball, I am still uneducated as to how the whole draft process works and what agents do. However, this section by Darren Heitner, as well as the rest of the book, provides me with very solid information.

As I said before, I have two boys looking to be drafted in the future, does anyone know where I could get Darren Heitner's information so I could contact him as a possible advisor to my boys? He seems to really be in the business for young players best interests...

2.0 out of 5 stars Back where I started. Not exactly what I bargained for., October 7, 2003
By A Customer
I bought this book as a gift for my brother who was looking for information on finding a new agent in the U.S and abroad, how to approach agents, how to find quality agents, information about affiliations, training/try-out camps etc. Unfortunately this book offers no information in that department. Instead it assumes you are being recruited from a college team, which is of little use to semi-professional athletes, or those who are well out of college.

If you're looking for semi-interesting anecdotes and examples of the business end of sports, check this book out of the libarary and give it a read. If you want specific or practical info to get you started or point you in the right direction this is not the book for you.
