Gearoid O'Brien
Born 1955. Irish writer, broadcaster and poet. A native of Athlone where he has worked in the library service for over 35 years. He is now a Senior Executive Librarian with responsibility for the Aidan Heavey Library, Athlone. He has written extensively about his native Athlone,about its most famous sons John Count McCormack and Archbishop Michael J Curley. In the 1970s he ran a private press called "Kincora Poetry"; he has lectured on local history, genealogy, creative writing and publishing.
