This review is from: Atlanta Recital. Emory Chamber Music Series (Audio CD)
This was Bjorling's last recorded concert and his only live concert ever recorded in stereo. The Atlanta performance received unqualified critical acclaim. Bjorling is in superb voice on this CD (Amor ti vieta is particularly thrilling, and everything sounds marvelous), and one can only regret that he was taken from the opera world so young when it is obvious that his amazing and incredible voice had so many more great years ahead of it. This is a must have for any Jussi collector, though if one is new to this artist, I would recommend albums with more opera and less lieder to be able to appreciate fully his glorious and unrivalled talent. (EMI's Jussi Bjorling Edition or the Ultimate Collection are good places to start.) 1. Frondi tenere (Handel) Running time: 60 minutes |
