4.0 out of 5 stars DVD storage with form and function !!!
This Atlantic DVD Storage Case makes attractive DVD storage a reality. The cherry wood base and details at the top add a sense of refinement that you don't always get with a DVD storage rack. The rack fits in a corner, a closet or just about anywhere as it is compact yet big enough to hold up to 74 single case DVDs in a compact, vertical space.

In addition, the wavy black colored steel rods going up and down the sides of the DVD rack are tastefully designed; this is one DVD storage tower that won't ever be an eyesore! The wavy design fits in especially well with modern or contemporary décor.

This DVD storage rack doesn't hold many DVD "double sized cases." It can hold two or three of the double sized cases on each level of the tower--and with nine "levels" that's about eighteen double sized cases at the very most. Another problem is putting it together. I was able to assemble Atlantic's CD wave storage tower myself--but not so with this DVD wave storage tower. Some of the small plastic parts can be tricky to handle. Sigh. I had to ask my handyman to help; although to be fair he was able to assemble it in about 20 minutes.

Overall, this attractive storage tower houses DVDs very well and the cherry wood base and details give it a handsome appearance. It goes particularly well with modern or contemporary décor and it lasts forever. The rack is easy to move about as it is only six or seven pounds at the most when empty; and you can even place it in a closet if you wish to keep it there for any reason.

I ordered this for my house as a quick fix to my rapidly growing anime collection. Now that I have moved into a new apartment, I think this is the perfect thing for it. It does fall apart if you try to move it, though.

It is easy to assemble and the only tool you need is the little metal thing that comes in the box. It did take a little bit of doing to attach it to the base and put the little "stoppers" on the end to prevent it from detaching because they weren't technically screws, so they had to be twisted and pushed on at the same time. Also, it took force to get the balls to go onto the top end of the rack, but once I finished with it, it looked wonderful.

I have a lot of anime, and it will hold some boxed sets (like the slimmer ones that unfold and have all of the DVD's arranged that way) but will not hold the larger boxes that hold seperate DVD boxes ("artboxes"). I don't have many of those, though, so that wasn't too big of a deal. But, of you have a lot of these, you'll probably want to skip this model.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price!, January 23, 2008
This review is from: Atlantic Wave 1386 Click to enlarge Wave DVD Tower (Black Steel/Cherry Wood Base ) (Electronics)
I purchased two of these and love them. The modern design fits in with my decor and they are attractive. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because of the assembly. It only took me about 10-15 mins to assemble however it is difficult to attach the base with the plastic nuts (Hard to get them threaded) and the special tool they give you to tighten these nuts is made of flimsy metal that bends out of shape when you use it. I chose not to attach the little rubber feet and I think that helps it be more sturdy. If you are worried about it tipping sideways, you could also use an adhesive cable lock (those little plastic circular things that hold a/v cables or electrical cords that stick to the baseboard/wall). You could put one on one of the rails and stick it to the wall. The DVDs will hide it. Just an idea. Overall I was very pleased with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very decent DVD rack!, February 12, 2007

I got this at another store when I started collecting DVDs, and I love it. It looks great next to my TV, and the only problem I have with it is that I have filled it up and need a second one (it holds over 80 DVD's). It wasn't hard to put together at all. I did it in 5 minutes with a hammer and screwdriver. It's a great little DVD rack for the money. I'd recommend it to anybody who needed something inexpensive for DVD storage!

I've owned three of these for about 3 or 4 years now. My DVD collection has grown so I came on amazon to see if I could find the same rack. I'm happy they have it. My 3 look as good as new. I've never had them tip over either. Yes, it was a little hard assembling them because of the tight fitting. But after the past few years of having them standing tall without disappointment, I'm guessing the tight fitting parts are a good thing.

The tower is not as study as I wanted it to be especially if you want to place it over a thick carpet, but it is not that bad either! It is elegant and will make a statement in your room! and I felt that the SALE price is just right (I bought this and a CD tower along with this and have identical review for both)

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique CD Storage, January 10, 2008

We didn't want another piece of furniture to store DVD's. And we wanted something a bit different.

So we got one of these. Assembly is not difficult. It's annoying with those stupid tab plastic screws, but not difficult.

It holds the DVD's fine. It does have issues with holding huge boxed sets. Those will only fit on certain places.

I'd buy it again. In fact, I have one in my cart right now.

I have three others and wanted another as I keep adding to my dvds. Unfortunately I was unable to find one in the stores. Luckily I found this one on amazon and it matches the other three to a T. Thanks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a decent stand, May 7, 2008

It took about 10 minutes to assemble this stand. I didn't have any problems other reviewers mentioned with the base plastic screws, although the included tool they give you is a little awkward. To install the wooden balls at the top of the stand I HAD to widen the holes; there was just no way they were going to fit over the metal rod any other way. Another reviwer recommended a utility knife which would work fine; I used a cordless drill with a bit just barely larger than the hole already there and that did the job.

If you have a box set where the actual box is a a little larger than the dvd case, it will have problems fitting in this stand: my Lord of the Rings box sets fit just fine, but for Star Wars and Indiana Jones I had to actually pull the metal rods apart and force the box set in.

Other than those minor issues, the stand serves it's purpose and looks great.
