This is a basic intoduction to some of the Artillery Improvisations / types that Germany was forced to resort in building and providing sufficent firepower for the Atlantic wall. This volume describes some of the guns from 50mm to 340mm caliber that were most utilized - German and those captured by the Wehrmacht in 1939 - 40. Captured French artillery was extensively utilized and German industry was by necessity forced upgrade and refurbish because of a shortage purely German manufacturing artilery production coupled with the tremendous material demmands and losses on the Russian Front. Some very effective combinations of French and British artillery were grafted within large areas of the Atlantic Wall and are highlighted in this 47 page volume. The pictures are outstanding, the chapter introductions for each type include technical data which is brief but informative and there are some nice drawings of some of the designs / types of artillery emplacements. For the price, this is a very decent overview for this essential part of the somewhat "ragtag" Artillery support/firepower that the Wehrmacht was forced to rely on. I rate this volume at between 3 1/2 and 4 stars - it is good value for the money.
