This review is from: Atlantic 22135383 Allegro 234 CD 104 DVD/BluRay/Games Wood Cabinet with Glass Door (Black) (Electronics)
As is typical with MDF, particle board, and other fake wood furniture, this is not something you'd want in an environment where it will be subjected to impacts or frequent moving, as both may potentially damage it beyond repair. It's meant to be kept in one place, and that's it. Also, absolutely keep it away from areas that tend to get water on the floor, like a basement, as that will damage it, too. And if you have young children, you should absolutely install an anti-tip bracket to keep them from knocking it over and breaking the glass door, not to mention the cabinet itself.
That said, you are getting a nice glass door that lets you see through to whatever is inside and keeps most of the dust off of it. I priced out glass in the Washington DC area at 16" by 45" by 1/4", and was quoted at $45 for one sheet of tempered glass with unfinished edges, and a few dollars more for sanded edges. The glass in this door is not that large--it's around 12" by 37.5" and maybe 1/4" thick or perhaps 7/32". But you can see that to build your own comparable cabinet with real wood and a glass door would likely cost you in the range of $100 or more, plus your own labor. So, to me, it's worth sacrificing some quality for the time it saves and a lower price tag. I use it to display my Transformers toys and other knick-knacks. It would be fine for CDs or DVDs, but frankly I think it's overkill for anything that doesn't require protection from dust. If you just have regular movies or CDs, not collector's items, you're probably better off getting a cabinet without a door, as it's easier to access them and much cheaper. The biggest problem with the door is that it doesn't sit quite straight. You get used to it, but at first it will probably annoy you because it looks funny. This, of course, will vary with each item due to small differences in the manufacturing process--main exactly where holes were drilled and such. So some may be better than mine, while others may be even worse. There may be a way to fix this but you'd have to be careful not to damage the fiberboard to the point where you can no longer screw something in. One of the best features is the variety of positions you can put the shelves in. But the holes are not all exactly equal, so the metal shelf holders fit easily into some but have a hard time fitting into others. Again, minor manufacturing defects that are just par for the course for this type of furniture. All in all, I liked the first one I bought enough to buy three more, but I don't recommend paying full price. I paid $75 including shipping for my first one directly from the manufacturer sometime in 2008 or 2009, and about $58 for each one thereafter, as opposed to the $99 "regular" price that it usually sells for from the manufacturer and many retailers. As long as you understand it is somewhat fragile and must be treated with care, it should be fine. I doubt you'll be able to find a cheaper display cabinet with a glass door.

These cabinets are perfect for the area that I had planned to use them in. The finish on the cabinets could have been better, there was adhesive from tape, that was use on the cabinet doors during assembly, at the miter joints. The standard shipping took one week as promised, and I received the cabinets in good condition.
